They ended merch fees at all their club sized venues two years ago

Concert promotion giant Live Nation is ending merchandise fees for artists at all of its club-sized venues across the country, the company announced Tuesday as part of a new developing-artist program that it has launched with Willie Nelson. The “On the Road Again” program, named after Nelson’s famous song, will also give artists playing those venues an extra $1,500 per show intended to help cover growing tour expenses like gas, transportation, and hotels. Live Nation also said it would give unspecified bonuses to crew workers, and the company will contribute another $5 million to the Crew Nation fund it started during the pandemic.

however, with regard to ticket prices, dollar amount of fees, etc...that blame is shared by both livenation and the artists. if the artists actually wanted lower "all in" prices, they would be lower.
There is an odd economics issue with artists keeping prices low for tickets. Taylor Swift decided to price tickets below market for Eras, and the result was extraordinary demand that drove secondary prices to the moon, probably more accurately Mars. She lost money, and the fans paid more than if she had just priced them at market or even higher.

Hopefully, it sets a precedent.
They all suck.
They all suck.

True but you can’t use Taylor Swift as a market barometer. Those shows had many multiples of demand over supply. Had she let the market price the tickets she’d have made more money but in her case (and in many others) the bond between the artist and fanbase is as important as the music. Billy Strings is a good additional example and there’s many others, going all the way back to the grateful dead
Artists with that kind of fan support have to be careful not to appear greedy or exploitative

Really, more FODD (fear of disappointing daughter) for many fathers. Because the prices were unusually reasonable, many fathers were sitting in the queue for tickets, and because of demand driven by the prices and certainly bots as well, most came away empty-handed. This then "forced" many that could and some that couldn't afford the secondary market to bite the bullet.

Still won’t help me remember that Def Leppard concert in 1993.

Owned by Live Nation. That’s part of the monopoly decision
