10-12 year old kids can make the plays. Maybe the father should get his arse off the couch and teach his kid how to be a catcher?

Or maybe his dad put him in little league so he could learn the position? So the only two options are: "know how to play well" or "receive embarrassing arse wooping" . Did you even know what a "scrimmage" is?

To the OP.

You are right. I did the same thing one time when the other team had a weak catcher. After 6 early steals the other team pulled their catcher. I was going to do it until they stopped it.

Scrimmage or not, my players wI'll not be swinging on 3-0 unless I have explained to them I want them to swing at a close pitch. If the other team can't throw strikes, woe is them. If I am up by 10, I call the dogs off on steals though.

You are in the wrong.

1) You said it yourself, no catcher at that age has the arm strength to throw out a runner stealing second. It seems like there should be a rule against stealing, and, thanks to you, there probably will be soon. What you did was to take advantage of a massive loophole. Was it illegal? No. Was it dishonorable? Absolutely yes.

2) You ran up the f'ing score on a bunch of 9 year olds. People cry foul when college coaches do it. You were coaching 9 year olds. You embarrassed the other team, and you didn't do it honestly.

3) It sounds like you have a win-at-all-costs attitude about youth sports in general. I honestly feel bad for your kid. Lighten up.

They don't teach catching in little league.

At that age kids are different sizes and athletic abilities. There's nothing impressive about a grown man running up the score. Sounds like the OP has personal confidence issues.

that are required to play station to station baseball

If it's a station to station league, I think you only run on a hit ball. If you end up walking every batter, the ump usually expands the strike zone to get batters to swing. Basically it's a league where every kid gets to play. It sounds pretty weak for 12 year old ball. By that age there are travelling teams, all-stars, etc.

If you or your kid are serious, you should find a more competitive league.

So when you took the kids out for pizza, did you tip? You cheap frick. You sure are a know-it-all douchebag--first teaching kids how to play baseball the right way (by running up the score and embarrassing the other team full of 9-12 year olds?) and you stiff waiters because the hostess screws up rather than talking directly to the manager?

Next time you feel like teaching someone a lesson, or telling the message board about it, just go lay down in traffic instead.

You played the game the way it's supposed to be played. My guess the boys had a whale of a time under your coaching.

Keep it up!

You shouldn't have continued to steal after you were up 8 or so but they probably would have found something else to complain about. It's a lose/lose situation in terms of sportsmanship.

I was coaching one time and told the kid on deck to swing the bat and not take a walk. We were up 12-15 runs in the top of the last inning and they had already walked in a few runs. The other coach thought I was trying to run up the score by telling the kid to swing. He got all pissed off and told me to show some sportsmanship, it was complete bullshite.

you are absolutely in the right. To hell with them and their kids, they will all be pussies. Teach them that life is about winning. I have to get up every day and go to woe swinging for the fence.

So people actually believe this story happened?

I wonder if they talked about why a four year age span is covered in this league while scarfing down Peter Pipers Poppin pizza after the scrimmage game.

Its league directors like the one your taking about that are the reason for "travel" baseball.

You still should have called the dogs off after being up by 7. Advancing on a passed ball is acceptable but stealing is pushing the envelope.
