The kid was picked on. He probably felt responsible for his team losing. You are a liar or a terrible father if you say you'd just sit and watch your son be abused by a douchebag adult from the other team.

When was this?
1990's. We had a leadoff rule of something like 3 steps but the league did not allow stealing to prevent situations like the OP said. Very few 9 year old catchers can consistently stop a steal to 2nd base.

Oh, ok. I played in the 80's and there was no rules in place against it. Our coaches weren't assholes though, so we never had an issue.

Up by 10 and still doing it?
Maybe a little much.
If made them swing the bat too if it's close.
Sitting up there with you bat in shoulder waiting to walk is chicken shite.

Had a coach do this when my son played 10-year-old ball - he was stealing on every pitch even though they were up by 19 runs. The coach was a damn doctor, which was very disappointing, and I took the opportunity to tell him his coaching was "bush league." None of our kids quit though - I wouldn't allow my son to just give up like that.
Honestly, once you knew for sure you had the game won, you should have showed some class and let the gas off. Sports isn't just about winning - it's about learning how to win and lose the right, with respect.

Since it was a scrimmage, you probably shouldn't have continued to put the heat on, that being said, I don't think any of what you did is an offense that merits banning you from the league.
In a regular season game, you don't give anyone the opportunity to get back into the game. You play to win and you NEVER ease up. You exploit the other team's weaknesses until they figure out how to stop it or get better.
You've just got a problem with today's society with the majority of the people thinking that games should be "fun." Which I agree with, but to an extent. You don't enroll your child in a competitive league if you want them to have "fun." Sucks that you got banned.

What if one of the other kids had a parent who had recently died. Would you remind them of it right before they were about to bat? You know, "exploit their weaknesses".

Scrimmage is a practice so the point is to prepare for the season and strengthen your weaknesses. Sounds to me like you were only concerned with strengthening your ego. And in t he process you crushed their catchers confidence. You should be banned from coaching and haven your arse kicked by an MMA champion until you beg for mercy.

you did nothing wrong. Since this was a scrimmage, the other coach should have tried other players at different positions, especially a pitcher and catcher, that's what scrimmages are for. Screw the other parents. If they want to bitch and complain, they should be out in the field helping also.

Late to the thread, but tell them to shove it. That's what the 10 run rule is for, right?
You played within their rules. Enough said.

It would pathetic if a father didn't say anything if his son was the catcher in that situation.
10-12 year old kids can make the plays. Maybe the father should get his arse off the couch and teach his kid how to be a catcher?

So Friday you made a thread saying you don't tip at restaurants and today you let us know you've been banned from a little league baseball. Why don't you grow up?
Posted on 2/15/15 at 3:26 pm to OleWarSkuleAlum
So why didn't other coach do same thing too???? I wouldn't sweat it nor would I let my kid play in a pussy league like that. Kids and parents need to learn to lose and not just be handed trophies.
Posted on 2/15/15 at 3:27 pm to OleWarSkuleAlum
The stealing bases sounds excessive, and doing any of that up 10 runs is just putting the other team down. However if it's a 12 YO league i would say u shouldn't be banned. If it's a 9 Yo league u should be banned. Big age difference there in the way the game should be played

Wtf are you talking about? Weaknesses in regards to physical ability bro. If anyone were to do that I would kick them off of my team.
