Seems like both pilots were on it, good for them.

Seems like a case of bad coordination between the tower and ground controllers.

Problem is these are on two separate freqs so the pilots had no situational awareness of what was happening elsewhere on the field.

Glad it ended with no tragedy.

Hard for lay people to figure out root cause. You think there would be the latest control technology being used extensively to keep runway accidents from happening. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case. Can anyone in that industry shed some light on this?

Trip 7 Tiger would be better but here is what I see (as a once certified ATC).

The ground controller fricked up. She cleared the SWA flt all the way across the field, including crossing an active runway. She should have had the SWA hold short of crossing 4 and then made visual confirmation at a minimum that 4 was clear to cross.

There was way too much time for the situation to change for the SWA aircraft to taxi that far.

Just my $.02 worth. I only controlled airspace over battle fields and on temp airfields. Never wanted to be the ATC guy in a tower.

Runway incursion because of a coordination failure between local and ground control. If she got permission to send the aircraft across than it is the local controllers fault if not it is the ground controllers fault. The tower team concept failed in this instance.

What could possibly go wrong?

I was under the impression that once you start crossing runways, you're under Tower control. Southwest was still with ground who told him to cross rnwy 4, THEN switch to tower. Jet Blue was with tower, obviously.

Being an air traffic controller has to be one of the most stressful jobs, so much shite going on and you’re responsible for the lives of a lot of people

So now we know no one will be fired over this. At first I was like “oh shite this guys like is ruined”. Then I listened and it’s a media protected class. She’ll probably get an award and promotion. They’ll say he was heroic to notice the crash she caused was about to happen.

Please forgive my ignorance. So each jet does not have a local short range radar that ties to a central control and will alarm when things get out of hand?
