With an acceptance rate of just 5.8% and typical SAT scores between 2120 and 2390, Harvard University is America's hardest college to get into, according to a new list from the academic review site Niche.com.

The rankings are based on acceptance rates and SAT and ACT scores reported to the US Department of Education. College acceptance rates received a weighted average of 60% in the ranking computation, and SAT/ACT scores received a weighted average of 40%.

Business Insider used Niche's state filter to find out which college is the hardest to get into in each of America's 50 states and the District of Columbia. Niche reports that a few states (Alaska, Delaware, Nevada, and Wyoming) are missing from the ranking because they don't have data for enough colleges.

Not sure where they got their info, but Wisconsin says Marquette is the hardest to get into, with a 57.5% acceptance rate, but a google search shows UW-Madison to only accept at a 47.5% rate.

So this list, bullshite.

It says it incorporates ACT/SAT scores as well. Too many dum-dums trying to party in MadTown messed your numbers up apparently.

Difficulty to enter college a bit skewed. A lot of schools nowadays turn down lots of students just to seem difficult to enter.

In the comments section they state they used scores and acceptance rates to derive "hardest" to get into.

They claim in Louisiana it is Tulane?

Doubt it, you try to drive to LSU on a game day. It's the hardest to get into for sure.

And afterwards out of.

List is crap. Berea is hard to get into because it's a free, income based school.

Apparently you frickers didn't learn how to read while in college. The list isn't only comprised of the lowest acceptance rate, SAT/ACT scores are also factored in.

Acceptance rate is a flawed metric. Doesn't address popularity of applying versus size

Eta. Before you call me a dumbass I now see where they took into account scores. Format of op made it confusing for us non link clickers
