I don't see the difference. Either speak ill of the dead or don't.

Does the fact that his children might not see this site make it ok to crack jokes about their dead dad?

Fwiw, I'm ok with joking about it in all cases. Just want consistency.

I think to produce meaningful lyrics or verse you have to have gone through some shite. Some turn it into something productive, others never escape the state of angst that produced those lyrics.

Altered states of mind do tend to produce some fairly profound ideas, compared to day to day reality.

I am a old fart, and when I look at the music of my life and who made it, it is hard to find a artist that this was not the situation. Fortunately most did not commit suicide, but from reading the biographies of many of these people most considered it at one time or another.

I'm unwilling to give up my right to make fun of the guy who died while testing out his homemade rocket cycle or the guy who got shot while trying to fight a cop.

This is America

They won't. The local girl that was big news has a much better chance of her family reading the shite here. Plus, he was a public figure and chose to be so. She didn't and wasn't.

HUGE difference and sorry you can't see it.

The Houston morning show ripped his album really bad all last week and Rod Ryan the host eluded that the bands management, and perhaps the band, would be paying attention 1 morning when they played a song off the album and got feedback from listeners. As you can imagine the feedback was brutal.

So it's ok to talk shite if you "know" they won't find out?

she was a prostitute, and posts mentioning that fact were getting wacked left and right

I guess suicide is one cure for the itch. To each his/her own.

Their politics definitely turned me off starting around Minutes to Midnight, but they still had a bunch of good songs and were a big part of my memories in HS.
