Wrote this in another thread. I have been a customer for 15+ years… I called and threatened to cancel. They sent me to loyalty department. I said I will only stay on if my bill is $125 a month ( was $240) they said ok and threw in the credit and a $100 visa gift card and made me a VIP loyalty member. Whatever that is

If that also includes your internet, and your internet is good, that's a pretty good deal.

I thought Disney/ESPN/ABC were being boycotted by most of TD because they were woke?

Losing ESPN should have been a non-event.

For the record, i have DirectTV and no ESPN and have had it that way for 2-3 years. Saving me pennies and supporting the cause! :-)

Yeah, I need it for the Astros games and that made me hesitate to switch. If it doesn’t resolve itself soon I’m gonna jump ship.

Ah. So overhead lines feed the box, which then feeds the underground?

You’d probably be better off calling and threatening to cancel. DirecTV will most likely lower your bill considerably, at least more than $20 per month.

Got $60 off.

Exactly what I was thinking. It is decidedly 'inconvenient' in comparison to YouTube TV.

A couple of things but most importantly is keeping the internet and TV separate so if we only lose one, we have the other. Another thing is not having to bounce back and forth between streaming services for certain content. Another inconvenience would be just changing formats to something different, thats a transition in itself and it's something I was willing to do at my last price point but saving $70/month was a difference maker for me. I'll re-address in 12 months if they don't honor my current rate or drop it further. Another issue is no matter what service that's being used, you're subject to contract negotiations so moving and changing platforms doesn't make me immune to this in the future. Lastly, the guide. The YTTV guide setup is ridiculous and although I can take the time to re-org it, I don't want to.

Individually, they aren't huge but collectively, it's just easier to stay with the savings they offered.

I just called to cancel. They thanked me for being a loyal customer, not sure how many years, but it's been a while. They offered me the $20.00 rebate if I stayed. I asked about loyal customer discount, they said nope. $20.00, take it or leave it.

I had the Premier Package, paying $175.00/month. They couldn't care less, canceled me over the phone, no offer.

I guess I'll go with YTTV? I was expecting them to give me some kind of discount to stay.

It is for me. I'm on DirecTv's side here. I only watch ESPN for College Football and MNF. I'll occasionally watch a CBB game also. So many bitch about woke Disney, and DirecTv is standing up to their bully tactics, but so many on here, like most Americans, are weak pussies. Ive seen so many "Frick DirecTv I want muh ESPN for college football". Disney is the problem here. Dig in DirecTv. I'll live without College and Monday Night Football for a little while in order to stand up to those woke weirdos at Disney. All these badasses on here support Disney more than all those they bitch about.

20 bucks is not enough. I don't care if the Hallmark channel is unavailable or Lifetime but there are some things you just don't frick with and one of those things is football!
