ETA, there is a very special place in hell for Spell and people like him who prey on their congregation in the name of God and personal financial gain

His lawyer IS in the hospital.
The man that died was elderly and a parishoner.

The virus is politically motivated

While I think the pastor is a piece of shite, the man elected to attend, that’s on him.

The deceased's family will now sue to ever living piss out of this guy and the church and blame it on him.
Honestly, I doubt they win a suit against this shithead pastor.
I'm not sure how that prove causation and, even if they somehow pull off that miracle, there is an enormous assumption of the risk issue.

Never underestimate what a jury will do.

How much of a case does the family really have?
The pastor is a slim ball but he didn’t hold a gun to this guys head and force him to attend. Also good luck proving where he contracted the virus.

none. unless it's proven that spell forced them to go with consequences if they don't.

It is going to be tough to prove that the man caught the virus from the congregation unless there just starts to be a high percentage of positive cases coming from that church.

He may be fricked here.
He's one of those assholes that would threaten the damnation of hell for skipping church.
