There are always threads about Texas. Let’s talk Florida.
I got an opportunity in the sunshine state
Specifically located around the Tampa area/gulf side of the state?

What is life like in Florida? No income tax, bunch of old people?
Good place for a young family?
Beaches, fishing, boating? What other outdoors ?

Things are going great for me in Boca. At least when I’m here and not jet setting.

Stay 10 miles or less from coast and you’ll be fine. On your own inland

Live over in Madeira Beach. Worst part about living down here is all the traffic when the snowbirds show up in the fall. None of the blue hairs can drive worth a crap.

Other than that, our family loves it.

Florida >>>>> Louisiana

That is more true the further you get away from Alabama. Stick to the Gulf Coast and you're mostly good.

Florida as a place is nice. The people are weird. You want to be around the retired people if you are normal.

Florida is awesome. This site is full of jealous inbreds who hate it for some reason.

Tampa area is nice and even if it’s not for you it’s real easy to sell your house down here and move away. The Tampa area has something for everyone from young professionals to geriatric old folks and most people I know that live there love it.

Moved from LA to FL, live 10 minutes from the beach, doubled my income, love the weather, no crime where I am, but lots of wealthy, white, old Northeastern people.

Pasco County is a pretty nice suburb of Tampa. Good place to live and plenty of entertainment

Been living in West Palm Beach for over 10 years. Moved here from NOLA. Would never think about leaving.

My understanding of Florida is that it’s primarily old people, meth heads, Jews, jort-wearers, and snakes

Pensacola is great. Lots of fried hushpuppies and places to rent exciting jet skis.

Perdido is one of a kind. Amazingingly tall condos full of day drunk milfs. Lots of fun t shirt shops to peruse.

Crestview area has some pretty neat woods.

Destin and Ft Walton are superb beaches with lots of people who left Gulf Shores to get away from their equals.

This area has very little crime. Our local news is "don't get eaten by bears and alligators and keep your dog away from the poisonous toads"

Born and raised Palm Beach County. Great place to live. Great fresh and saltwater fishing. Golf, obviously. No income tax. If you’re single, tons of attractive women. No income tax from the state.

Downsides are traffic, Yankees and crime is starting to be noticeable.

So stay away from the Redneck Riviera? I love me some Port St. Joe and Apalachicola before they killed all their delicious oysters.

I’d prefer Texas. More wide open spaces and a better variety of things to do. Same entertainment options such as pro sports and concerts. Same variety of ethnic food. Better options for topography.
