Lets talk about Speeding Cops

If you're driving along on the interstate and a cop speeds by you, say 10-15mph over the speed limit. Do you get behind him and go as fast as he is?
Now, say you are in the same situation but now you have a radar detector and can confirm that the police officer does not have his radar on. He knows your speeding because he is speeding. Is it legal for them to pull you over without radar?

Block him! Don't let him pass. You never watch NASCAR?

Yes, it's called pacing.

i was in denham one night driving down range. had just gotten off the interstate. A BR city police car sped by me going toward watson. i sped up to do the same speed he was doing. like 58-60 in a 45. when we got to range and florida, he slowed way down got behind me and put his lights on. This pissed me off even more. He got out and came to my truck and asked me what the hell i was doing. i told him i was just driving home. He told me i was going way too fast. i told him i didnt look at my speed, was just following him. He told me to slow down and got in his car and sped off. My nature was to lock horns with this guy, but i wouldn't have won and my night would've likely turned bad.

Just curious, how can that be argued in court?

All they'd have to say is that they were responding to a call or pacing you or another car to write a speeding ticket. There are no repercussions for speeding cops

Get in front of him and brake-check.

Just drive normal and don't worry about them. For all you know they probably just left a domestic and may be going to see their wife, kids or grandchildren. Cops are, for the most part, pretty good ppl that you'll never know what they just went through.

You’re flat out wrong. Cops can get pulled over in their own jurisdiction for speeding. Cops cannot speed unless they have their lights on and are either responding to a call or in pursuit.

This would never happen.

This is not true.

Ask yourself one question: Will it make your day any better?

I got lucky driving into New Orleans on I-10 one time. Almost to Kenner and I hit traffic. Damn near stand still. Couple minutes later an ambulance, lights and sirens blaring, pulls up a few cars behind me and we make way. I then quickly manage to get right behind him and rode his arse the entire way to my exit, probably 5 or 7 miles down the road, as he parted the sea of cars for us.
He actually ended up taking the same exit as I did and as soon as we get off the ramp and to the stoplight the bastard switched off the emergency signals.
I would not attempt this with a cop

Why does this worry you. Are you going to make a thread about someone having 22 items at Wal-Mart when the sign clearly says 20 or less?
Sometimes people have way too much time on their hands.

Before the "self" quarantine I had a Lafayette City Cop that passed me every morning South of Youngsville on my way to work. 45MPH zone, double lines, no lights, and doing 65+ (paced him once and backed down at 62 when he was still pulling me).
There are two types of officers; those who uphold the law, and those who feel they are above the law. Realize both will have no issue ticketing you no matter what side they are on. I see no reason to cost yourself time and money to prove a point that the officer wouldn't be able to grasp in the first place.

Really hard to prove that they didn't have it on, they could upgrade to radar that uses frequencies outside of your detectors spectrum of range.
Basically, everything you're trying to get away with will bite you in the arse in court. Best practice is to not try to act like a coke runner on the interstate everyday of your life.
Set the alarm for 15-20 minutes earlier and it would save you more money and time.
