CS Lewis credits the Everlasting Man as one of his favorite pieces of literature. He also credits it as leading influence for his conversion to Christianity.

Screwtape was my personal fav. Read it in 5th grade and had to write a paper from the reverse perspective, as a Guardian Angel, saving a soul, rather than leading it to damnation. Stuck with me more than the fairy tales of Narnia. Evil had a more tangible taste than magic wardrobes.

Did you know Lewis considered writing a sequel to Screwtape written from the perspective of an Angel.

CK Lewis was funny on Parks and Recreation. But I don't see what the bid deal is about him.

I appreciate the hilariousness of early Internet days, but I have been around long enough, here.

I did, and he said that ultimately angels were far more complex than demons and unable to be understood by a man like himself.

I find Mere Christianity to be the most important Christian literary work other than the Bible itself.

Save yourself some time and read Hitchens instead. He makes a lot more sense.

A horse and his boy and the silver chair have always been my two favorite Narnia books.

Also, if anyone has small children that you read to, Tolkien's Roverandom is a really good one.

If you haven't seen Shadowlands and like CS Lewis, I'd highly recommend it. Anthony Hopkins does a phenomenal job. Expect some gut punches throughout though.

“A dogmatic belief in objective value is necessary to the very idea of a rule which is not tyranny or an obedience which is not slavery.”

We are lost without the Tao only to be overtaken by our Nature which is of animal primal origins. Not that these instincts aren't inherently necessary and even good, but that their the does exist such a thing as objective morality. There is a such as "TRUTH". It is not a merely subjective ideal that is fluid between cultures and races it is absolute, it is self evident. To appreciate and follow the Tao takes training. We do not teach children to lie they already know how. We teach them to tell the truth against their will to lie. For only by adhering to the Tao are we as human beings capable of flourishing and bearing fruit.

I would like to hear your thoughts or objections.

C S Lewis was an intellectual first and foremost. His path to Christianity was different than many.

Mere Christianity is a great book.

Screwtape Letters is not milk and cookies. It is a very interesting and deep look at how we act out our loves.
