Moved out here in 2014 from Mandeville. Live in red lodge and work in billings. Love it out here but definitely miss the south a little. There are a couple smaller university's in billings. So, I would say there will be younger ppl around your age. Winters have been pretty mild since I got out here but I guess 2013 winter was bad with snow on the ground for a long time. They take care of interstates and main roads when it snows but sometimes whiteout conditions shut stuff down. I enjoy going to Bozeman. Haven't been to Missoula, yet but hear it's good. I like. Cody, Wyoming, too. Lots of cool places around. Good luck.

Your wife sounds like she sucks. It's an awesome place with plenty of outdoor recreation there and nearby. I would go for it

I was up there in March. Nice place for being in the middle of no where, although I'm sure it's different when the weather is miserable. Found some really good food while we were there, one spot actually had some decent chicken and sausage gumbo.

Summers are incredible. Days last forever. Learn to elk hunt. No finer game meat. Take up fly fishing. Spend the winters on OT.

I hope you like meth!

But seriously, if I was living in north Mississippi and had a chance to move to Montana with a good job, it would be a no brainer. I only flew into billings once, but took a Greyhound across the state to Helena, the capital. The scenery is amazing, which I really enjoyed. Helena is a cool small town. Missoula is supposed to be a great and artsy small town. I didn't see much of Billings, and it didn't seem too exciting, but it would be an upgrade from your current situation.

Do it.

I'm from Prairieville and I've lived in Bozeman for 11 years.

Billings is dirty and boring. Just my two cents. Decent to spend a weekend in but I couldn't live there.

Lots of drunk Indians. They sell rifles for cheap, then go buy liquor.

Billings is cool. Great bar/restaurant there called Pug Mahon's. Best pork chop sandwich and onion rings I've ever had.

Bozeman is cooler, but Billings ain't bad. Montana is a great state. Just cold AF.

The Eastern part of the state isn't as pretty or fun. The Summers get pretty hot and the winters are very cold. Bozeman 170 miles West is awesome. I love Montana. Billings is not my top spot there but it is still Montana.

Coming from Louisiana and moving to a place where it gets -10 is disgustingly cold. I've been there, there's very little to do in Billings

Unless you're an outdoors person. Some people need to be enrertained, some create their own.

The best fried chicken I've ever had was at a gas station in Whitefish. This is 11 years ago.

If you youngins ever want to learn to some history, research Jim Bridger.

My dream town is Ennis, MT. Even though I've never been there.

Montana is about the size of Louisiana, Miss, and Bama combined and a population of only one million people. One sixth of the population of the 3 states above. Look down your street and remove 5 of every 6 neighbors. Do that for your whole town ... and that's Montana. Billings is the biggest city with a pop of 110,000.

And Bear tooth mountains are just to the west of Billings

There are better places in MT, such as Missoula or Bozeman, but it's alright. Red Lodge would be my dream town in Montana, but jobs are pretty scarce there. If you have a choice in the general area, I'd look into Wyoming. Laramie, or even better, Lander.

If it's a good job opportunity do it!

Billings is not that bad.

I lived in Bozeman for three years and would move back of I was given the choice. Billings is not far off...way better than anyone gives it credit for....nice downtown and the people are great....cook a good gumbo and they will love you forever.
