Are these two stars orbiting some thing? Like a black hole? Or are they only caught in each other's gravity?

Was just on Wikipedia and searched "hottest stars".
Compare that to the Sun at 5778 Kelvin = 9,941° Fahrenheit.
These are surface temps.

We have to first know what space is. The discovery of the Higgs Boson tells us that space is a physical thing that can be measured. It also confirmed the Higgs Field and its role in assigning mass to particles.
From Alan Guth's Inflation Theory we know that space does not have the same constraints as classical matter and energy. For example, it expands much faster than the speed of light.
Einstein told us to think of space and time as being the same thing. If he understood this relationship clearly, he failed to impart that understanding to the rest of us.
Space is as baffling as the quantum world because of its exotic properties. So, when we understand what it is and how it works we'll be able to at least hypothesize its scale. Presently, we can't.

Supernovas are rare, about one per galaxy per century. The last significant one near the Milky Way was in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a dwarf galaxy that's approximately 160,000 light years from earth, and was first seen in 1987.
The last one that would fit the description of what you'd like to see happened in 1054. We know it in the sky as the Crab Nebula. It's some 6500 light years away and the light of the explosion was first seen on July 4, 1054 and documented by the Chinese and the Anasazi Indians.

WR 102 is expected to go supernova in the next couple of thousand years. It's a Wolf-Rayet star, which is a massive star in the very late stage of life and already blowing off huge amounts of mass into a surrounding nebula. They are so hot that most of their light is ultraviolet, they are somewhat faint in visual wavelengths.
