there are different positions for different lifts.

Feet shoulder width, hands just outside shoulder width for me

Feet need to be split in half bar the bar. You need to maintain thoracic extension while looking down at the floor roughly 2-3 feet ahead of you. And when you lower it, lower it. Go all the way down in one motion (should watch videos on this).

I don't do straight bar deadlifts, but most places don't have hex bars. I tried straight bar deadlifts, but threw out my back, so I haven't done a straight bar deadlift in many months.

Keep your arse under your hips at all times up and down. The second you relax your hips, ie arch your lower back you WILL strain a disc. And trust me it sucks, like real bad

Yes, use you legs not your back. Hard to critique without watching someone dead live though.

I pulled a 565 for 1 last Monday. Goal is 600 but it's been a lifelong struggle to reach that milestone. I got brutally close to it when I was much younger and somewhat enhanced at 240 #'s. I am clean, 42 yo, and 220 right now.

How does it feel to be a BEAST? How many ciggs do you recommend smoking between sets?

Don't be the douche that brings chalk to a gym that doesn't have it and toss that shite everywhere

what shoes do you wear?

You should wear lifting shoes with plates in the soles if you are DL'ing any type of heavy weight.

It's better to go barefoot rather than tennis shoes if you don't have lifting shoes

Not bad. Shampoo isn't cheap though.

You almost need to be at a straight up powerlifting gym to get away with chalk. Most commercial gyms will show you the door when you break it out.

I can't lift heavy without it though. My hands sweat on my working sets going up. I dropped 495 the other day without it and the entire gym almost went to DEFCON 4.
