As they should. It’s a pain in the butt to go get my kid early in the middle of a workday. But I’d rather that than have her sitting in a school with a tornado about to bear down. Better safe than sorry.

And to the poster who was talking about a downgrade in threats, please stop unless you have concrete proof. Just saying “science” and trying to be a smart arse is just you being an arse.

Impressive wind profile from Lake Charles this morning. That sickle shaped long hodograph tells the tale of the impressive dynamics at play.

Also, note the dry air punch at the mid-levels. That tells you the wind threat is significant across the region in these storms today.

Shrevepot's upper air sounding had some problems, so not going to use it unfortunately.

Should get some noonish soundings today from the region. Will be interested to see how the thermo evolves.

People complaining about school cancelings after Moore 2013 are just pricks.

I guess I’ll actually prepare for it this time instead of just watching it come through like last week.

I have a feeling that doing so might attract a tornado though.

Naw that’s stupid.

If you're talking about the bright orange spots those are high winds.

Click the circle doo-hickey in the top left corner and center it in that area.

Interesting. What radar is that? I’d like to use that one today to track things like that.

Yea I doubt they’ll downgrade anything today. They’d probably rather be called out for a “bust” than to downgrade this late in the game and then be called out for changing their minds when people got devastated. I’m part of those who give the pros a hard time for stuff like that but meteorology really is a lose/lose kind of profession. They get ragged for every decision they make and it’s not fair 90% of the time.

I think that's an artifact of being close to 45 degrees from the radar site. Got good winds aloft but its right in that area where it goes from moving toward the radar to away from it and you get that funkiness.

Im not certain that is what it is, but seeing how it isnt showing up like that north and south.

Honestly I’ll be shocked if this is a bust.

Nevermind. It comes and goes on Radar Omega. Just radar weirdness.

RadarScope

Like Duke said below, sometimes there can be wacky measurements. I want to say they were talking last week about trouble with it and downloaded another app.

I don't think the problems they were having are usual though.

Now, that severe warned section North of Houston is concerning.

I thought it was a program/software issue, too, like we saw last week. This isn't that, though. This is actual radar weirdness. It shows up on multiple radar apps.
