Yes... other than the 'almost' part.

I traveled to the 2007 game in Tuscaloosa. While walking back from a bar that Friday night, a guy heckled me out the window of his buddy's car. He said something to the effect that we deserved Hurricane Katrina.

I was a little tipsy and felt enraged by the statement. My first reaction was the approach his car and chew him out by explaining that I had lost my home in the storm. Beside myself, I challenged him to get out of the car. Surprisingly he obliged.

My anger turned to shock when he shoved me, but his buddies intervened before I could react. They threw him back in the car while expressing their apologies.

I felt pretty stupid about it the next day. That could have easily wound up with me getting stomped by a car full of Bama fans.

What do you expect from the Gumps? They live in the past. They actually think Bear Bryant still lives.
