Well, judging by the bizarro world logic that this board unfailingly adheres to, it's definitely a real thing. Thanks for the confirmation, people.

There are a lot of names given to disorders that have nonspecific symptoms. It's a way to provide a diagnosis without actually diagnosing anything. People who are told they have functional disorders or IBS know all about this. Depression/anxiety is more powerful than a lot of people realize. It can cause a lot of physical ailments.
Perhaps there is validity in saying that the symptoms are "all in the mind" of the patient, but that doesn't make them any less bothersome.

Is that the same thing as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome???

Overaction of nerves due primarily to depression.

It's inflammation due to gluten intolerance and a sedentary lifestyle.
Gluten is in most processed foods and humans have only had to process gluten like this for maybe 150 years, since the invention of fast-rising yeast.

That being said, everyone that I have ever met that claims they have it are inactive/middle aged or older/ and have terrible diets.
I'll add to that many of them had some sort of chemical dependency to prescription pain meds. I often wondered if the fibro symptoms patients experienced was nothing more than the body going through withdrawal

I have chronic Fibro but I sometimes confuse it with my Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome. Which condition is making me all tingly and sore?

My wife has it. She's a healthy early 30s woman and can get out and work in the yard with me for hours, or work on projects around the house or in the basement, on good days. Then there are days where she can't hardly get out of bed. Thankfully she has way more good days than bad. She isn't on any narcotics for pain, and when she's having a bad flare she has a non-narcotic she can take that helps. She also had ADHD and takes daily meds for that. Hers doesn't seem to be related to a bad diet and lack of exercise. Just a nervous system issue.

Primarily females. In Freud's day it was called hysteria. The name just changed.

She and I sound a lot alike. Do you guys happen to have wifi in the home? Are there electrical outlets in rooms she spends time in?

These folks just have somatoform disorder - they are depressed and instead of being able to admit that they have emotional issues are more comfortable psychologically with saying it is a physical issue. There is no surprise that antidepressants and exercise are the mainstay of treatment.
If anyone is interested Nortin Hadler who is the head of the Rheumatology department at UNC has written some extensive review articles on the how bogus fibromyalgia is as a condition

People didn't believe Restless Leg Syndrome existed either until it was brought to the forefront by Dr. Mark Buchfuhrer. And I'm pretty damn sure it's real.

I'm no MD but know enough about circulation to know that Restless arse Syndrome is real, too. Hell, just a minute ago I had to adjust in my chair for slight relief.

Much like those who "need" Adderall, it's a lack of coping skills disease.

If you want to know what is legit mortality-wise or not, and what is an "annoyance", ask an insurance underwriter. They can get a fibromyalgia patient approved for a life policy in about two minutes. Severe rheumatoid arthritis or something, no way.

That thing that didn't exist until a decade ago

You have no idea if that is true. I've known at least one person diagnosed for whom this is certainly not the case.
