Clint Cointment ran on cleaning up AP and fixing our flooding issues but does he realize that 99% of the flooding issues in AP are a direct result of trash blocking the runoff's natural progression into drainage canals and the Amite River?

I don’t doubt Ascension is trashy just as EBR is, but there’s no way the trash accounts for 99% of your flooding issues.

Litter isn’t what causes this baw. The massive influx of pavement replacing land for water to drain is what’s causing it.

Every single square foot of concrete is less natural drainage. Those cookie cutter neighborhoods popping up everywhere where raising the land 5-10 feet is causing it.

It’s disturbing how much garbage there is on the roads not just in Ascension but the entire state of Louisiana.

I used to love to ride my motorcycle down Alligator Bayou/Manchac road on the weekends; It was honestly a BEAUTIFUL area but god damn is it absolutely riddled with trash. It’s heartbreaking to see and no one seems to give a shite.

I lived in Ascension for 11 years before we moved to TN. When Mrs. Cotten and I moved here the first thing we both said was how insanely clean it is. If Memphis, TN is cleaner than LA...that should be a sign of how big of a fricking problem littering and trash is in LA.

This is a down river problem which causes back flooding situations like we saw in 2016. The natural flood plane got filled in with neighborhoods, and now there is nowhere for the water to go.

AP, and LP Planning and Zoning/city council made bank from the payoffs they got to allow all of these hoods.

I know most people think it is people just chunking shite out their window, but 90% of the trash is from Waste Management and the like with shite flying out of their trucks. At the end of I110, they pickup the litter about once a month. Hundreds of orange bags. Two days later there is new trash all over the place. The dump is on the way to St. Francisville, so the horde of trucks that run that part of town just leave their tops open and you can just watch the shite flying out of the top. Fine those frickers $100 bucks per flying piece of paper and the state would be rich.

Living in a swamp does. Most of the parish’s grade is below flood elevation. They get one flood and want to blame it on new neighborhoods and trash.

I have mostly positive things to say about AP, but the litter problem can not be overstated.

Interesting to read a topic like this, as I thought I was over imagining a litter problem in AP relative to other areas.

So you’re comparing having inmates pick up litter in the community to that of a Communist state?

Many of the inmates would CHOOSE to be in a program like I described. Reward them with edible food and cigarettes and they will work 10 hour days in June, 6 days a week.

This isn’t rocket science or Communism. If fricking Alexandria, LA can figure it out, Ascension and EBRP should kick themselves out of office for not mirroring the program.

Yet you can still buy a single wide on a 1/4 acre lot for the low low price of 250K! Born and raised in St. Amant, but that place is going downhill. I moved to the LP and am about to move to Magnolia, TX.
