People from Lebanon and Syria assimilated easily into American culture because identity politics wasn’t as prolific as it is now. You were either black or white back then. Your religion and language mattered more and they were Christians that spoke French or English. Most were just regular white folks except plenty had money so they started businesses.
There’s a ton of Lebanese genes in Louisiana, specifically. The Mansurs, Hannas, mahtooks, Boustanys, and Manziels are all Lebanese. Ralph Abraham is Lebanese, as are most of the Abrahams in Louisiana. Garrett Graves is half Lebanese,
Charlie Crist, Ralph Nader, and the Zogbys are Lebanese. Doug Flutie and Sammy Hagar are half Lebanese. Steve Jobs and Jerry Seinfeld were/are both half Syrian.
My neighbor was half Lebanese and his parents didn’t even bother to mention it to him until he was 15 and it was only because they were attending a family wedding. lol. They were very much into being rednecks. My, times have changed.
