This is why. Lobbyist sent the check in to capitol hill:

AI Overview
Alcohol sales are declining due to a shift in consumer priorities toward health and wellness, a rise in sober-curious lifestyles, and economic factors like inflation. This trend is particularly pronounced in younger generations, who are also exploring alternatives like cannabis and non-alcoholic beverages.

A lot, and I mean a LOT of folks have shifted from alcohol to thc gummies/seltzers. Republic and SGWS both have laid off staff due to the declining alcohol sales.

Because McConnell is pushing it and he's working with Bourbon lobbyists. It's absolutely being pushed by the bourbon folks here in Kentucky. It's because companies like Cornbread Hemp with their THC/CBD drinks are cutting into bourbon's already tenuous bottom line.

Absolutely.
More retardation on the part of our government.

It looks like an attempt to stop selling shite in gas stations but I'm pretty sure it's the alcohol lobby leaning in to destroy the THC beverage industry. And that's very very sad because these have helped me tremendously.
I've been alcohol free for some time and one of the things that helped me was having these available. It allows for people to actually "imbibe" with their peers as opposed to drinking alcohol. The state of LA has limited them to 5mg each, has grandfathered in bars being allowed to sell them, has made them 21+ and has limited them to 4 packs at max. But it's not enough for the liquor industry whom I believe wants to destroy this alternative beverage industry for good.

Gummies and seltzers are the thing where I am... having tried gummies for a mellow go to sleep reason- and being effed up for over 24hrs- changed my mind.
That stuff is surprisingly potent. It would have taken alcohol poisoning level of drinking booze to stay that messed up that long.

You're not supposed to take the entire gummy, just try a bit of the corner for the first time and wait 30-60 minutes.

Either that or the drop in sales of laundry soap and personal hygiene products is significant.

Are you getting pure d9 gummies, or gummies with the additional thc derived cannabinoids? THCP is some shite that will give you the "thc hangover" like effects for 2 or 3 days.

MADD needs a steady flow of drunk driving deaths to keep the doors open.

I started with a nibble, waited 30m, nibbled a bit more. I took more than I should because I didn't know how long it took to kick in- but I didn't take a whole gummy, probably half.
I also didn't realize I could buy something THAT potent- seriously, that it was easily available as candy made it seem kinda harmless.
Lastly, the package has two gummies and says the serving size is one piece. If I ate a full gummy piece, I'd have been stoned for a week.

They want to lower the BAC to .01 in order to create more revenue for the police.

Yeah it throws everyone for a loop when trying to figure out your tolerance

I dunno, only bought it once. Got three packs, I told the lady I never did it before and heard it could make you sleep well.
I got two packs of what she thought would do sleeping well, one was indica the other I don't remember- and a third pack she said would give me energy.
The "energy" pack is untouched in my dresser because the thought of being THAT stoned as well as unable to sleep terrifies me.
I can take a picture if you wanna see it.

If it lists THCP anywhere on there, that would be the culprit. I decided to get me some gummies not long ago after I ran out and they had THCP in it and I did not realize it. I have a fairly high tolerance and took a half of a tiny cube. I had those goofy/hangover effects for like 3 days. Never again.

That's real weed buddy, not whats referenced in the OP. Hemp is mainly gummies and can drinks at some grocery stores.

No, if anything will increase that. Hemp derived for the most part are gummies and seltzers with no smell. They are trying to remove that option
