What if you just claimed ignorance of not knowing that your kid was having a party while you were "sleeping?"

Yes they can. A few kicked in my door for this. Claimed they knew a crime was being currently committed.

Talk to the police. Have respect for their position but remain firm and in control of the situation. Explain that you will answer any questions but that you ain't harboring any foogitives and you won't put up with any of their bullshite.

If they get out of hand, a quick pop on the nose will show the police that you're in charge.

I laughed..harvegin a foogitive was funny. But the ending sealed it for me.

You're the dumbass parent we all loved when we were in high school. "Let's go get loaded at Crusty Jr's house b/c his dad is cool". My parents knew we were drinking and thought whatever parents allowed it while under their supervision were fricking retarded. Not worth the liability.

Ok I realize the OT is not going to believe me, but it wasn't my house or my sons party. He may have been there though. I found out all of the details after the fact.

Just collect all the car keys at the door and everyone has to crash there for the night. They will find a way to drink regardless. At least they will be under a watchful eye.

No way 30 or so kids are making no loud music.
Not that I am on the neighbors side, but I bet this wasn't the first time there's been 30 cars strewn all over the street and on people's yards and general adolescent activity going on. Cars coming and going, revving engines, probably at the pool making noise til late, etc.

It was in the middle of the day. The party was over at 7:30. Granted, I am not the neighbor but I live a couple of houses down and I never heard anything when I was outside doing yard work. There was not a lot of traffic. There was not a lot of noise. I don't know what my neighbor's plan was for handling the kids driving after the fact. It didn't cross my mind because it's not my house. My kid was not driving as we live just a couple of houses away.

So then what did you--er, I mean, your son's friend's dad--do? Did he talk to the police or did he hide out next door like a chicken shite?

He, or she, walked next door. Now that everything is over, it looks like that was a good call as nothing came of it.

Chicken shite? He, or she, didn't know what to do so they walked to the neighbors to ask them for their opinion.

Tell me Dorothy why talking to the police and possibly getting charged was a better option for them. You seem to know it all.

I'm actually surprised at some of the posters reactions about underaged drinking in here.

I mean growing up my parents, as well as other family parents would prefer that you were drinking at home with them rather than out somewhere else and partying it up and possibly driving home intoxicated.

But then again I grew up in Chalmette, and we are all trashy there apparently
