Buy her a Toyota Corolla, if necessary, but do not lease.
The only ballers I know who are strongly opposed to buying new cars (unless a Corolla), nice clothes, expensive diamonds, having a wedding over $10k, and MacBooks.

Got a big project that I've been working on since last June. It ate my life. It's about to wrap up though.

So nice of them to sell you a car at a loss

Whatever value you arrive at, expect to pay roughly half of that over the lease term. Biggest thing I can think of is to consider if you might buy it in the end. If you do you could end up spending more per month buying it after the lease over due to the loan interest rate and having a f'ed up residual value that you didn't factor in the beginning.
The lease is always getting you to pay pretty much the depreciation and sometimes more, giving the dealer / manufacturer a low mileage well maintained used vehicle to sell at a higher price when you turn it in. Recon is cheaper for them too bc you will pay for any damages you incur when you turn it in. They will make more off of leasing that vehicle vs if they sold it outright.
No dealer is ever going to sell / lease you anything at a loss. I would run not walk from that dealer.

Never lease a new car. Buy a low mileage used car (usually they are lease turn-ins).

There are few actual "never" situations in life.
I lease and am ok with it. I have no interest in being responsible for paying for car repairs. Maybe that's PTSD from seeing my parents'paid-off vehicles break down on them at the least convenient moments. I call a lease paying for convenience and peace of mind.
Other people think spending thousands of dollars to go travel is worth it. I think that's a waste of money but to each his own.

Right before my father passed away he leased a truck. I paid the lease for him.
Just wanted him in a smaller vehicle, good shape, and reliable as we knew the end of him driving was coming soon.
In his situation he used it two years and only had 4,000 miles.
When he passed I turned it in by providing the company who leased it his death certificate and gave them the truck back with a few fees.

Then you are making poor financial decisions to compensate for something else in your life. But if you can afford to be bad with money, feel free.
Guess what, some people enjoy cars. It’s a hobby. Others spend a few hours a day commuting in their car, so they want a nice interior with modern tech or luxuries.
Your blanket statement reeks of ignorance.

these olds can't comprehend anything other than their 1970s financial knowledge and refuse to adapt.

I lease all the time. Never put money down. I like driving a new car, like having a warranty the entire time i use it and will never be upside down.
Last 2 leases...turned it in and some how had $5000 equity. Dealership cut me a check. Last one i had $1300 equity and got another check.

They’re not losing money on the deal.
