Man it's such a freeing feeling. Take each day as it's own thing. You wake up and you live. You get done what you need to get done. You laugh, love, eat, pray and abide. Let your head hit the pillow with contentment.

Do I need to add the last two to the words on my dining room wall?

Man, that would be the best perspective ever...unfortunately, we generally only subscribe to that at the end of our lives.

The more I know, the less I understand.
All the things I thought I knew, I'm learning again.

Easier said than done most days. Learning to live in the moment is the only true spiritual practice you ever need.

Every day’s a gift,
We aren’t guaranteed the morning,
So savor all these moments,
The end comes without warning,
Relish every victory,
And learn from each defeat,
Spit out the bitter poison,
And drink in life so sweet,
Find the laughter, seek the light,
For even in the dark,’
There’s a chance to find your fire,
All you need is just a spark,

The storms in life are endless,
But if you refuse to fail,
You’ll make it through the tempest,
And find new wind in your sails,
So don’t resign to sinking,
Even when all Hope seems lost,
Keep steady at the helm,
As upon the waves you’re tossed,

If you sail on through the darkness,
Once again the sun will rise,
You’ll find somewhere safe haven,
Perhaps scarred, but more the wise,
And with new eyes you’ll wonder,
At the beauty of the dawn,
So make each day worth living,
And keep living ‘til you’re gone.

living in the moment is the secret to life, yet few have the courage to practice it.

I’ve converted my days to the metric system so I have a different perspective on living day by day than most of you schleps.

Eleven days a week is not enough to show I care.

Well said. It is the secret to life. I really try to apply this but fail so often.

We spend our lives chasing deadlines, living for the weekend, planning to a date, etc. The true secret to happiness is living and enjoying the journey, not reaching the destination.

Sounds a little like the Jimmy Valvano speech.

The tragic flaw in that line of thinking is you always need to plan for the future. What's the average American's retirement savings? I'm willing to bet not a lot!

I know an old dude that lived day by day.
He drifted town to town, job to job.
Now he's an old man without a pot to piss in.

Plan for tomorrow.

I think this can all more sustinctly be described with the following phrase, made popular by millienials:

YOLO

Unfortunately, most of us have to work and that ruins most of our happiness.
