Go to England instead. Their language is way easier to pick up.

They understand you if you speak English with an Italian accent. At least it worked for me.

Unless you’re going to an obscure town in the country, English is really all you’ll need. Just learn some key phrases and you’ll be fine. I thought the same thing before my first trip there

The Italian language is more about wild hand motions.

There really isn't much point unless you're just curious or are planning to live there for an extended period.

Don’t be a corny tourist. If you aren’t staying there for awhile own your American ignorance with pride

If you hate America so much, why don't you stay there?

Met a guy in a bar in Brussels that had learned 8 languages by watching tv with the closed captioning on. Joker could speak English better than most Americans

Is say the best intro would be duolingo, but if you truly want to get a better understanding, there a ton of grammar and other language articles I can point you towards.

How much Italian do you know?

It can be tricky. It's OK to suck on a fig there.

Here’s a few helpful phrases:

Whassa matta you! - It’s wonderful to see (or meet) you!
Mi baci il mio grosso cazzo? - Would you help me?
Sono chiamato il gufo femminile! - My name is Owlie, (gender fluid)!
Fottiti figlio di un bastardo! - Figure a good tip for yourself!
Mangia cazzo, ho scopato tua moglie. - I’m hungry, we should get some food.
