Why is an occupational therapist in a nursing home? Trying to get great grandma out of bed and back to work? Like Grandpa Joe with a Golden Ticket?

After my Grandpa broke his ankle at 90 they helped him get back to living alone & able to take care of himself
Taught him how to do different things like go from stove to table with food in a way that wouldn’t hurt himself, basically retrained him from his normal routine
He was able to live alone 3 more years

Yes using PPE. We are talking elderly with preexisting conditions for the most part. The death rate has to be pretty high for that demographic I would think. Why risk it? Nothing she does is life critical where it cant wait until she is tested or finished quarantine.

my wife is an RN in a nursing home, has been around several cases, and is the one doing the testing in the facility.

If it’s in a nursing home it’s going to spread & nothing is going to stop it
She needs to talk to the patients Dr or the head nurse if she feels that therapy should be halted but they are not going to risk liability by not providing prescribed orders
Or she can call the state & report them which should be done if she feels like they are ordering unnecessary therapy

She is working and I am calm. The risk versus reward aspect is what I am arguing. She does not do anything that is day to day critical or life saving. Non essential.
