Like I said, that's probably how it shakes out, and I hope that's the case. BUT.... if the prosecutor is a dick, he could bring the case based on the facts alone.
Just so you know the process if that happens.... first, the prosecutor would have a warrant issued for you. Then, you'd either get arrested or they'd have you come in (not 100% sure how that works for the small stuff). Then, you'd have to go to an arraignment and make an appearance, where you could either settle by taking a plea or go to pretrial. At pretrial they'd give you the state's best offer, which would probably be a fine and perhaps some kind of anger management class. If you didn't plea out, then it would go to trial and you'd probably win. But, it would cost you.

So, while his answer was thorough and ends up in roughly the right place, I’m pretty sure he’s answering it from the perspective of Texas criminal law. Assuming you’re in EBR, that obviously doesn’t apply. We don’t have a criminal statute called “terroristic threats” and we don’t have misdemeanor classes. With that said, I do think the best fit would be Assault, but it would be weak as shite. Because the threat is conditional on something that hasn’t occurred, proving that the guy was under reasonable apprehension of bodily harm would be quite the stretch. It’s also still just a misdemeanor. As an aside, DA’s practically never prosecute anyone who didn’t first get arrested. While it’s theoretically possible and happens every blue moon (see: that bullshite indictment out of Nola for the AG), it ain’t happening to you.
Now, your dumb arse might get fired over this nonsense, but you aren’t going to get arrested. If some annoyed LEO comes talk to you, just say it was a bad joke and move on with your day.
