Respectfully disagree. Most attorneys I know who have actually worked with him would disagree as well.

I agree. And this priest had his right not have his name publicized, which is also unpalatable.

The church investigated this internally and said "yeah, he did this, but a 17 year old isn't a minor to us, so we don't see a problem here."
It knew this, and still put this guy in places with children/teenagers.

The church spent 700K plus investigating a leak?
Come on man!
Attorney CAN NOT do that. I’m sure he’d be pissed if someone blew his attorney client privilege.
He should not be fined 400k but he should be barred from representing any clients in the case since clearly he can’t be trusted here. His clients can find another attorney.., I’m sure there are 9,000 attorneys willing to step in.

Not everyone deserves a fair trial. frick that priest
Also, if a priest can break oath on an impeding crime mitigating circumstances should be allowed. Yeah yeah, slippery slope. If my daughter went to that school I would, at a minimum, pull her out immediately. The aftermath of her friends parents, when they found out that I didn’t say anything makes me lean toward exactly how it played out.
Fines will be reduced, slap on the wrist from the bar. But I’d gladly give up my license to save some or just one child. Period

So church law is getting penalized in the real law court? What's the penalty in church law? Move his practice to another city?

Then you want them to be your scumbag..
after watching several trials recently... including the "in progress" trial of the Waukesha Parade Massacre dude Darrell Brooks as Brooks represents himself
I definitely see the necessity (of course... I hope I never need 1)

Under both civil and canon law at the time, she was an adult. There is no allegation of force.
But they still should have moved him away from children for the sake of appearances.

Well worth it as far as I'm concerned. As a Catholic, I'm 100% in favor of exposing, defrocking, and imprisoning any priest who molests or abuses children.

Days later, Hart retired, citing health issues. Two weeks later, the newspaper published a story by Vargas detailing the church investigation of Hart based on information from anonymous sources.
So, where’d he end up? Did he leave New Orleans Archdiocese?
Is he in Bay St. Louis?
