Which one do you use when someone asks you what you do for a living?

I'm partial to attorney, frankly.

I heard a black lawyer introduce himself as "Doctor Attorney" once

I know some fellow Jags who address each other as "Attorney ____" and "Attorney ____".

If I'm addressing a letter to a lawyer, I usually use ____, Esq. in the address line simply because Iona Tiger told me he does it

I use them interchangeably like Doctor and Nurse Practitioner...

Lawyer if they are a scumbag ambulance chaser. Attorney for ones involved in legitimate legal pursuits.

To me, Saying you're a Lawyer sounds more stern like you don't take crap & mean business. Saying you're an attorney seems more humble and business-like.

Seriously, if you use esquire other than addressing letters with the Esq. You are a douche.
