It looks like this proposed bill wouldn't go into effect until the next administration anyways. From the article:
So I really don't have an issue with it. The timing and the bill sponsor makes it obvious who is pushing/wrote this legislation.

An important note: James said even if his bill were to become law, it would only apply going forward. Broome would still not have the power to oust Dabadie.

I believe it was Democrats who pushed that legislation through to make it hard to get rid of government workers but now that it doesn't satisfy their current needs, it's an abomination
That would depend on which specific govt. workers are being referred to because I'm pretty sure that the directors in some departments of the local govt. can still be ousted at any time.

Did anyone axe her what how their visions were different?
Didn't she come out and say that crime was dropping in BR not too long ago?

So her vision is for crime to go up? It is hard to believe someone hasn't called her on this yet

Yes. Crime in BR has gone down since Dabadie took office.

It's funny that you think she has a vision

What's the over/under on how long it takes Broome to completely run Baton Rouge into the ground?
I think she will be a one term mayor. The best thing for a first term mayor to do, one in office, is to connect with the people who didn't support you during the election. When the election is over, that becomes a valuable asset. You already have an established voting base, but things happen and that voting base will not always remain the same, so its best to reach out and try to expand your supporters.
Broome seems to be too loyal to her voting base, which will only fire up everyone who doesn't support her, to get out and vote in the next election. So hopefully she doesn't get time to frick it up too bad.

I though LA was a fire at will state. Oh well.
Never has been at will for civil service. Just the private sector.

Her transition team is a reflection of her intentions as mayor. She has assembled a group of people that are overtly hostile toward white upper middle class citizens and have stated that it is their obligation to make them pay for the sins of the past. Make no mistake, those that surround her are looking for retribution, nothing more.

sounds kinda like the Serpas/Landrieu beef in NOLA
crime was going down in NOLA while Serpas was chief but he wasn't doing it the right way apparently
now crime is back up in NOLA (not blaming Harrison... who may very well have his hands tied by PC bureaucracy of the Landrieu admin)

At one time I worked for the state of Louisiana and there were quite a few instances when co-workers in my office, protected under civil service, were fired. The notion that government employees in Louisiana can't be fired just isn't accurate. A lot of the time they gave the employee the option to retire rather than termination, which if they were smart they took, so on the official record it may not appear as "fired", but in reality they were basically fired. Now, obviously you can't get rid of an employee based on their race, which seems to be the case with Dabadie.

It's like they want St. George to happen.
I can't wait till St. George happens. I need to be reminded of my white privelege every time I write my address.

Barring her first term in office ending in the city in flames, who could unseat her? In all likelihood, the majority of black voters would continue to support her.

Were they fired with cause?

Well said. The people that Broome has surrounded herself with tell you all you need to know about her intentions. Her transition team's reports have clearly stated their intent to identify areas where so-called white privilege exists and to take measures to eliminate it.
