My mother mentioned cracking windows before leaving but isn't that an old wives tale?

Uh, I have some bad news for you.
Dude we are on the golf course in an area where it can't flood. Didn't flood during, Rita, Ike etc. Not worried one bit about flooding. Will have to replace roof more than likely, but no biggie.
Now if it's a cat 4, well frick hope the roof stays but it's a 8nyear old house built to new standards with spray foam so should be fine.

Brick houses implode due to extreme pressures during tornadoes........so I’d say it’s a legit thing to do it f your in the heart of the system

Just light it on fire when you leave and enjoy the new house with new furniture.

Here’s a nice physics question for the board.
So when I leave, what’s the best way to try to keep your garage door from blowing in? Leave a crack? Close it all the way?
I didn’t have a garage in my last hurricane experience

Does the spray foam do a lot for the integrity of the house? I have it in mine. Almost finished building on Gauthier. Been building since before Thanksgiving. Going to be pretty disappointed if this sets us back another couple months.

Hope you didn’t spray foam the rafters/roof decking......holds heat and turns 30yr shingles into 10yr shingles.......everyone thought it was a good idea......until they find out it isn’t

Spray foam helps with structural integrity

Yes, I forgot the equation but it makes the house much stronger. Google it.

I thought there was a special shingle you used with spray foam

Close it all the way and hope for the best.

Leave it closed and do you best to park something in front of it. Most roofs are blown off a house during a hurricane when the garage door gets damaged and allows winds to get under the structure.

No, but there usually no ridge vent if you spray the roof line which is what you should do.

You guys always come through even when it’s the smallest things.

While I understand your response, the original post you made said you aren’t worried about your home in Westlake unless it’s a hurricane. UpToPar’s post makes sense in that respect.

That the exact opposite of what you should do.

You have to use a vented nailable polyiso deck for shingles with spray foam insulation.
Posted on 8/24/20 at 11:37 pm to lsu777
The dude I bought my shingles said if you’re doing spray foam, you have to use “x” brand. I don’t know if it was because of warranty, or what.
