There is nothing more New Orleans than a taxpayer-funded trip to one of the shittiest nations in the world to "work together".

Hope SWB doesn't see this or we'll all be sending her to Botswana this year.

+1
Years ago I got stuck mid-transaction in the Shell on Highland/LSU Ave (it's a Valero now, I think) when the power went out. The young girl working behind the counter was from Africa (both she and her fiance were enrolled at LSU) and as we waited for the power to come back on so I could pay for my gas we began talking. She fricking loathed many of the black Americans she had met (especially the men) to the point where I expected her to be related to related to Clayton Bigsby.

I’m glad the outrageous property tax bill I received will be going to good use. Between this trip and the removal of statues, I can’t believe New Orleans still has a crime and poverty issue. What a fricking waste of money. Why not use the $10k+ on a child literacy program? Selfish leaders are the best.

This is outrageous. Where are the armed men who come in to take the protestors away? Where are they? This kind of behavior is never tolerated in Boraqua. You shout like that they put you in jail. Right away. No trial, no nothing. Journalists, we have a special jail for journalists. You are stealing? right to jail. You are playing music too loud? Right to jail, right away. Driving too fast? jail. Slow? jail. You are charging too high prices for sweaters, glasses- you right to jail. You undercook fish? Believe it or not, jail. You overcook chicken, also jail. Undercook, overcook. You make an appointment with the dentist and you don't show up, believe it or not, jail, right away. We have the best patients in the world because of jail.

At least that would make some sense.

THAT'S MY MAYOR!!!

Isn't this pretty much blackface?

In what way will a relationship with some town that has dirt roads and grass huts benefit the people of New Orleans?

Ghana is safe compared to NOLA.

She'll probably go to Zimbabwe then come back and tell us how they gave her some great ideas for the local economy

What exactly will be mutually beneficial for these to "sister" cities?

Bruh, this piece of shite just found a way to get a free trip to Africa. The foundation that brings Essence Fest to NOLA is paying for her trip. She just decided to let the city foot the bill for some other bullshite city positions traveling with her.
People were soooooooo happy to see Mitch go because of the statue nonsense but he was just pandering. He actually had the city's best interest at heart most of the time. He surrounded himself with mostly competent people and the city wasn't a complete laughing stock. Toya changed all of that. We were only a 40-50% joke back then. Now this city is 100% a joke. It's disgusting. Meanwhile, my family dwelling of 2 adults just received a water bill for $287.

The city is paying for the entire trip of one person, the city is paying for the flights from MSY to New York
The Essence Foundation is paying for Latoya and one other person.
I wonder who’s pays for her husband and daughter?

Nola water bills are a complete mess. In BR we have water, sewer and garbage combined in a single bill. Ours is rarely over $85 for all 3.

There are worse nations than Ghana. It’s not like she traveled to Somalia, Chad, or Yemen.

And the system is leaking all over the place. While out and about during the holidays it was crazy how many temporary fixes are around the city right now. I have one right down the street from me that has been "fixed" 6 times in the last 12 months. When they come out, 3 dudes with shovels do all the work and there are work trucks lined down the street with every piece of heavy equipment available. They have at least a dozen guys just hanging out. It's unreal.
