I believe our pal TulaneLSU would have relished a more subdued carnival season. One in which he could quietly celebrate the excesses of life, perhaps in the form of a decadent feast with mother. I believe he will enjoy a carnival season devoid of the unnecessary debauchery.

The "plan" is to make a bunch of "safety requirements" that are so expensive and so hard to comply with that the Krewes call off the parades on their own. That way, she can say it wasn't her fault.

Nah, she probably had her minion type up the announcement that she was cancelling MG, but wanted it kept in draft status until she made her final decision.
As others have noted, there will be so much stupidity involved with what the city will require that it won't be worth if for many to ride.
