I am sure that it will be played non-stop on Russia state tv.

Russia fricked with our election

By all accounts Russia didn’t hack an election and start switching votes.

For sure they used soft influences via perfectly legal tech and social media channels to take advantage of our 1st amendment and start fanning flames.

I’d largely assume every government plays that game though.

The mitigation for me is for a mass adjustment of US media to to start honoring facts over narrative. A reasonably trustworthy US media, that operates independently from any political party, but, as a matter of self preservation is pro-US, will solve most problems of foreign influence via social media channels.

Russian pilot tells passengers that he believes “the war in #Ukraine is a crime,” adding “I think each sensible citizen will agree with me & will do everything to make it stop.” Rare to see public opposition to the war given the potential consequences 02

Nothing commercial found in either of Shell's exploratory wells. I don't know about any others.

FTR, I have worked with Ukrainian gas companies in small fields in the Caucus region. They were discovered by the father of the friend who hooked me up with them. He is formerly with Radio Free Europe and Ukrainian born.z

FTR, we have enormous quantities of oil locked in tight shale formations in CA but to hydrofrac them requires hydrfluric acid due the high silica content and even that has been unsuccessful.

Additionally, there are a great many barrels in Nevada but its 30-40,000 feet deep.

Then there is a trillion or so barrels in the Rockies of actual shale oil. BUT it would take all the water going down the Colorado River as the rock has to be mined then retorted before capturing the vapor to then refine it.

They spent a few months drilling a well on our property several years ago. They found gas but it was in that tight sand and uneconomical to produce.

Did I miss discussion of the military presser in Russia?

That is the kind of change in official messaging that indicates that Russian leadership has realized that they cannot win in the manner that they obviously set out to do. This may be the beginning of the end of the war.

Definitely gives credence to the reports of the gains Ukraine has been making

It would have been on an industrial scale never before seen. It would have involved strip mining most of the western half of Colorado, as well as parts of Utah and Wyoming. I believe it was Shell that sunk untold amounts of money into a pilot project in Rifle, Colorado then decided overnight to abandon the whole thing. I'm glad they did. It would have been an ecological disaster.

Capture Kyiv and Kharkiv?! Come on don’t be crazy that was never the goal. We just bombed them for funsies.

Seriously though hopefully this is the sign of Russia taking an off ramp and ending this conflict.

Will be very interesting to see what are the triggers for rolling back western sanctions if there is a cease fire. Hard to imagine a lot of roll back so long as Putin is in charge and/or Russian troops formally control the Donbas.

Defence ministry briefing also shared a new official figure for the number of Russian soldiers killed, the second statement by Russian side during the course of this war. Said 1,351 were killed - figure is far below Ukrainian and international estimates.

Is that the total for the whole "special military operation" or just the last 48 hours?

I see zero indication of this.

Drive down a road you know won't support your weight, walk back to the FOB and you're out of the war for a while.

So fill me in on what I missed today. Is Russia trying to save face by declaring that the territory they occupy is all they ever wanted? Ergo, Russia has settled into a post-invasion, quasi-occupation stage?
