Good. So you see Putin invaded Ukraine for....reasons.
I got shite on for saying he wouldn't invade, but there was really no logical reason for him to go in beyond the eastern regions. I really have no clue how they think they're going to take and hold the western 2/3 of the country and not have it be a giant quagmire. All while knowing that a global sanction effort was an inevitability. It's completely bizarre.

According to the batshit insane poli board wing, Putin is trying to uncover the truth that Zelensky and all Ukranians are in fact covering for Hunter Biden, and they actively tried to take Trump down.
And they're all neonazis. Because suddenly that wing of the poli board cares about "white nationalism."
Politics makes strange bedfellows and geopolitics makes even odder bedfellows.
Arguably one of the biggest problems we have in the US today is so many of the vocal people on every side decides what they love and hate not by personal introspection or personal morality but choose the opposite opinion of the prevailing opinion of the "other side".

Do we know what Russian people are gonna miss most now that they are cutoff? Starbucks, McDonald's, PepsiCo, coke etc... Those are the ones off the top of my heads so far... Oh yeah adidas. They big coffee drinkers? Folders gonna cut them off? Putin is gonna have his own humanitarian crisis on hand and just wanted a list of things that might be the biggest trigger for revolt before they start having soup lines.

And I think these private corporations punishing the average Russian citizen for what Putin is doing is fricking assinine.
It's nothing but another form of virtue signaling, and in this case it's directly fricking over innocent people who have nothing to do with this war.

I guess they could probably get beans in Ethiopia cheap but the Ruble is crashing. Ethiopians gonna say nah man y'all too broke even for us.

Yeah I do. I’m pro Ukraine in this fight.

Kinda like lobbing bombs in orphanages, and maternity wards and subdivisions? Those type of innocent people. Missing Starbucks is really gonna be hard on Russians.

That is only true because you only saw the "logic" of the emotional appeal of reuniting the ethnic Russians.
You didn't bother to consider:
1. the shale oil fields
2. the offshore oil/gas fields in the economic exclusion zone that he didn't get with his Crimea play
3. the Soyuz and Brotherhood pipelines
4. water for parched Crimea
5. a land bridge to Transnistrian the Russian separatist enclave in Moldova
You got suckered by Vlad's words and never bothered to look at the petrostate motivations and more extensive land grab motivations.

Your average Russian citizen is doing these things?
Is it also the fault of all US citizens when our government drone strike innocent civilians?

That’s my favorite part. A bunch of rabid anti semites who probably have the protocols of the elders of Zion on their nightstand pearl clutching over neo nazis.

I get that part of it, but it's completely impractical to take a landmass of that size and hold it indefinitely knowing that there will be a crippling global sanction campaign against Russia. Maybe he's just buying time in the hopes that the Chinese will rescue him financially

I doubt China sees any financial benefit in bankrolling Iraq 2.0. They’d see more benefit in brokering some tentative peace to help get the world economy back up. Plus they could then claim that as proof of their international good will and buy influence.
Posted on 3/9/22 at 6:50 pm to REG861
Maybe so. It's just hard to imagine someone enacting a plan like this with the GDP slightly larger than Brazil.

The problem with yes men is when you listen to yes men. Vlad probably overestimated the draw of the succor of mother Russia. It is unlikely he expected the resistance he has seen. Roll to Kyiv install a puppet and sit back and be extolled for his victory and reuniting a historically important piece of the Soviet Union puzzle.
A kleptocrat doing kleptocrat things while masking his robbery in the ropes of righteous indignation toward NATO and company and saving the ethnic Russians from the nazis powers and Western influence.

By the way if you want some entertainment tonight, Tucker is coming on in five minutes and is for sure going to rip apart that war mongering piece of shite Adam Kissinger’s a-hole apart like a dire bear for these two tweets. It’s like a bear, but dire.
