Trump can't negotiate a peace deal if he terminates aid, although it's possible he threatened Zelensky with that. Zelensky looked very unhappy after they met last.
I don't give Trump good odds though. I just don't see DC being willing to accept defeat, and surrender on terms that the Russians would accept. It's more comfortable to maintain the status quo, and watch Ukraine lose from a distance. No one has to say the uncomfortable words we lost.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
23 December 2024
Russia launched approximately 2,300 One Way Attack Uncrewed Aerial Systems (OWA UAS) of varying types into Ukraine in the month of November 2024, once again surpassing the previous month's total. Monthly OWA UAS numbers have been increasing consistently throughout 2024, with significant increases - greater than 200 on the previous month - since July 2024.
It is likely that through September-November 2024, as many as 50-60% of the total launches were 'decoy' OWA UAS. The Russian forces have a variety of decoys available. Smaller and less expensive than SHAHED-class OWA UAS due to the construction materials, their purpose is to complicate the Ukrainian defensive effort through saturating or confusing the radar picture, forcing more work on the Ukrainian Air Defence teams in the hope of causing fatigue over time. Some of the decoy systems still likely carry a small payload (up to 5kg) of explosive, ultimately making them no less dangerous should they reach a target.
The rate of increase from October to November dropped in comparison to previous months. December 2024 launch figures show approximately 850 launches so far. However it is likely that weather has impacted operations in December, evidenced through some nights with significantly larger waves following a period of low or no activity. With no impact on launch sites or production, it remains likely that Russia can sustain numbers at least in excess of 1,500 per month. Russian OWA UAS maintain coverage of targets across the entirety of Ukraine, enabling Russia to maintain pressure while allowing Long Range Aviation Missile stocks to replenish.

North Korea ramps up weapons production for Russia, factories operate at full capacity – WSJ
STANISLAV POHORILOV — Monday, 23 December 2024, 12:05
Satellite imagery indicates that North Korea increased its arms production and is boosting supplies to Russia for its war against Ukraine. Approximately 200 ammunition factories in North Korea are currently operating at full capacity.
Source: The Wall Street Journal
Quote: "Recent satellite images show that North Korea is shipping more munitions to Russia and is expanding arms production at home… Assistance from North Korea is allowing Russia to press its advantage against exhausted Ukrainian troops and could help it resist pressure from the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump to end the conflict [war – ed.]."
Details: Officials from Washington and Seoul indicate that North Korea has sent around 20,000 containers of ammunition to Russia. These shipments range from lower-quality ammunition such as 122 mm and 152 mm artillery shells to the newer Hwasong-11 class ballistic missiles.
WSJ notes that "Ukrainian officials say the provision has amounted to more than five million artillery shells and dozens of rockets, including more than 100 Hwasong-11 class missiles."
Recently, Pyongyang also sent 170-mm self-propelled howitzers and 240-mm long-range multiple-launch rocket systems to Russia.
The report points that earlier suspicions about North Korea offloading old weapon stockpiles have shifted, with evidence now indicating Pyongyang is supplying newly manufactured weapons to Russia.
Quote: "More weapons are coming, by ship and train, to resupply Russian troops burning through huge quantities of arms, U.S. and South Korean officials say. Around 200 munitions factories in North Korea are operating at full capacity to produce weapons, and Russia is transferring fuel and equipment to support Pyongyang’s arms manufacturing, Seoul officials said."
More details: Satellite images show an expansion of North Korea's short-range ballistic missile production facilities. The Hwasong-11 missiles, also known as KN-23 and KN-24 in the West, are being produced at a factory on North Korea's eastern coast.
SI Analytics indicates that rapid construction at the site includes new buildings, likely intended to conceal loading operations. Kim Jong Un has visited the facility multiple times, issuing orders for serial production of tactical missiles.
A South Korean official told The Wall Street Journal that the cooperation is reciprocal, with Russia providing North Korea with air defence systems and sending technicians to support its satellite reconnaissance programmes.
Quote: "Pyongyang’s outdated air defence system needs significant improvements to match Seoul and Washington’s superior air forces, weapons experts say. South Korean officials said North Korea is likely also seeking help from Russia on intercontinental ballistic missile technology."
Experts cited by The Wall Street Journal estimate that North Korea may have earned up to US$5.5 billion through its arms deals with Russia.

N Korea is subsidizing Russia; yet we still have people advocating that the US let Ukraine fall.

Moldova prepares for harsh winter, as Russian-occupied part of country runs out of gas
by Paula Erizanu December 23, 2024 3:59 PM
Moldova enacted a state of emergency, as the country gears up for an energy crisis at the start of 2025 following the end of Ukraine's obligations to transport Russian gas through its territory.
Moldova, and especially the country's breakaway region of Transnistria, will be hit the hardest following the end of the decades-long agreement.
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the country has enough gas, bought on the international market, to keep the right bank of the Dniester (Nistru) River warm throughout the winter ahead.
But, he added, some 360,000 citizens on the left bank of the river, in the Russia-controlled region of Transnistria, "are still dependent on one source of import — Gazprom."

23.12.2024 09:47
Ukraine’s Defense Forces shot down 47 Russian drones overnight Monday, while 25 decoy attack drones veered off their course.
That’s according to the Air Force Command, Ukrinform reports.
“From 10:00 on December 22 to 09:00 on December 23, 2024, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 72 Shahed one-way attack UAVs and other types of drones, launched from Bryansk and Orel in Russia,” the report reads.
As of 09:00, it has been confirmed that 47 Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones were shot down over Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions.
The attack was repelled by air defense forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.
Due to active countermeasures (e-warfare), 25 enemy drones veered off course, causing no damage on the ground.
In Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions, private businesses and people’s homes were affected by drone debris, with no casualties reported

Not really, it was with a former Soviet leading physicist and the two leading universities for science were in Ukraine and St. Petersburg. Russia uses Ukrainian developed tech to build its scrapers in Moscow City on that once marsh.
