Ridiculous!! We were just told there is no systemic corruption in Russia, which is not ruled by a kleptocratic dictator and his hand-chosen oligarchs!!!

He is also fed up with US government efficiency. I wonder what took him so long to realize that the US government is inefficient as f**k and as my great uncle who was once the head of the Louisiana Democrat Party used to say "never trust a democrat."

Bipartisan group in Congress wants Biden to let Poland shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine

Oleh Pavliuk — Wednesday, 30 October 2024, 17:34

A bipartisan group of US lawmakers has urged President Joe Biden to authorise Poland to use its air defences to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine.

Source: US newspaper The Hill, citing the text of a letter, as reported by European Pravda

Details: In the letter signed by members of the US House of Representatives, Republican Joe Wilson and Democrat Steve Cohen, Biden is urged to "grant Poland the authority to intercept and neutralise missiles over Ukraine, particularly those threatening to encroach upon Polish airspace".

The request stems from Poland's desire to use its air defence capabilities over Ukrainian airspace to safeguard itself from Russian missiles while also aiding Ukraine in its defence efforts.

"Despite Russia’s continued escalation through hybrid warfare – airspace violations, attacks on critical infrastructure, and efforts to destabilise democratic institutions – we have hesitated to confront these threats decisively, allowing Russia to wage a war against the alliance with minimal consequences," Wilson and Cohen stressed.

They say that in this context, Poland's desire to intercept and destroy missiles over Ukraine is "both necessary and urgent as a support mechanism for Ukraine and a safeguard to the frontline of NATO’s borders".

Masno is a Russian who lives in Sumy. He posts both personal observations, and selections from the Ukrainian media that he finds interesting.

And there's a certainly a shift in the Ukrainian press. A year ago there was a sense of desperation, now I think it's despair.

Why has Pokrovsk not fallen? It was supposed to fall in late August or early September at the latest.

There are more interesting areas to attack right now, and by putting it in artillery range you prevent the Ukrainians from running supplies through it.

The most interesting front for the Russians right now is the area on either side of the Vocha, and the eastern bank of the Oskol. In both cases the water serves as a barrier to movement that the Russians can pin the Ukrainians against.

The movement around Kurakhove is possible though, because of the movement towards Pokrovsk, which in turn opened up Vuhledar.

The Ukrainian defensive lines here were built to defend against attacks from the south, and not the east

Why in the world would Poland need Joe Biden's permission to shoot down missiles, launched from their soil, over Ukrainian airspace?

You did not answer my question. Why hasn't Pokrovsk fallen? Also how many casualties per day is Russia sustaining during all that interesting movement?

1. Source of your claim.

2. Look at Kurakhove on the map. It is surrounded by open fields on three sides with no built up areas for Russia to take shelter in. Also the ditches and tree lines are evenly spaced and the fields around it look to be precision leveled. Russia is going to lose a lot of tanks to mines, drones, and artillery if it tries to move on Kurakhove. I do not even want to think about the human toll. Russia could easily average 1500 casualties per day it is a sniper and artillery man's dream. There is literally nowhere for Russian grunts to hide in between those tree lines.

No you redirected to talk about some other places. You do not want to talk about the fact that your precious Russian army is not able to take a position that 2 months ago you were saying was going to fall any day.

He learned that a long time ago. This is just the most blatant he's been about calling it out.

They’re already inside Kurakhove

They took the dachas and the eastern defensive works yesterday (?)

Because it technically would not be in defense of Poland. The US imposes strict purchase agreements on missile systems and other weapons - basically to be used only for self defense, exceptions require written authorization from the US government.

1. Are you ever going to start linking a source for your information?

2. Why are you asking a question about your own statement?

3. I think you are confusing Kurakhivka with Kurakhove.

4. As the pictures above clearly show. Russia is on the opposite side of the river from Kurakhove.

5. Ukraine claims to have repelled major Russian advance on Kurakhove.

Time is running out for Russia to achieve its goals before the US Presidential election.

Oh, so they're missiles they got from us?

I can sorta see that. Don't agree, but I can see where the hesitancy would come from.
