ATACMS are mentioned in the house bill just posted. Bill is not numbered yet.

SEC . 505. (a) TRANSFER OF LONG -RANGE ATACMS
REQUIRED .—As soon as practicable after the date of en-
actment of this Act, the President shall transfer long
range Army Tactical Missile Systems to the Government
of Ukraine to assist the Government of Ukraine in defending itself and achieving victory against the Russian Fed
eration.
(b) NOTIFICATION .—If the President determines that
executing the transfer of long-range Army Tactical Missile
Systems to the Government of Ukraine pursuant to sub-
section (a) would be detrimental to the national security
interests of the United States, the President may withhold
such transfer and shall notify the congressional defense
committees, the Committees on Appropriations and For-
eign Relations of the Senate, and the Committees on Ap-
propriations and Foreign Affairs of the House of Rep-
resentatives of such determination.

I'm sure Errerrerrwere will be back anytime now to say how Johnson would never let this happen

Remember all the times that SirWinston has claimed that I really do not know Mike? All the times he's mocked the idea that Johnson would do exactly this?

Johnson on why he’s willing to risk his job to send aid to Ukraine:

“Look, history judges us for what we do. this is a critical time right now… I can make a selfish decision and do something that is different but I'm doing here what I believe to be the right thing. … I think providing lethal aid to Ukraine right now is critically important. … I’m willing to take personal risk for that.”

I've even been doubted by pro-Ukraine posters in this thread, but I've told y'all for months that this was eventually going to get done. I don't understand warfare nearly as well as some of you, but I understand politics at an extremely high level, because I've worked in it at that level.

I'm in no way saying I know what's going on, but there is something that is not right with all this. Seems like they are stalling.

With White House support, Johnson's aid package will almost certainly pass:

So, I'm a simple man that needs a simple answer.

There were 2 bills, one by Senate and one by the House.

The senate bill wanted to send money to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and provide a lot of money for increasing illegal immigration.

The house bill wanted more money for the same 3 nations above and not the illegal immigrants.

What is going through is more money for Ukraine and Israel. Right?

The most recent supplemental bill passed by the senate on Feb 13 had the immigration portion removed.

I don't think so. It's been split into 3 different bills. Sounds like starting over to me which will obviously take more time than passing the senate bill. No guarantee that all 3 will pass but optimistically, it could get done by early next week.

Whichever bills pass the house will go to the senate where I think ieach one will need 60 votes.

The original senate bill with aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan passed with 70 votes. If the 3 separate bills reach the senate will they each get 60 or more votes ? Stay tuned.

I was referring to what passes both houses because there are always differences in bills.

There's a lot of confusion about this, because what Speaker Johnson did is attach four bills together with a rule.

The rule means that the bills will procedurally move at the same time, though members can vote differently on the different bills.

So, there won't be the possibility of a filibuster of one of the bills in the Senate. And the Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan bills are all extremely likely to pass. The fourth bill may or may not pass depending on how it's amended but it won't hold up the other three.

Who here ever doubted they were going to spend money we don't have? It's what they do best.

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian forces struck a Russian military airfield in occupied Dzhankoi, Crimea, overnight on April 16 to 17.

Ukraine’s Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reportedly targeted Russian aviation assets in the Republic of Mordovia, the Republic of Tatarstan, and Samara Oblast on April 17.

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov officially confirmed on April 17 that Russian peacekeeping forces began their anticipated withdrawal from Nagorno-Karabakh, as Russian sources largely blamed Armenian leadership for Azerbaijan’s seizure of Nagorno-Karabakh amid Armenia’s continued efforts to distance itself from political and security relations with Russia.

The Georgian parliament approved a bill in its first reading similar to Russia’s “foreign agents” law on April 17, which Russian state media seized on to further Kremlin efforts to amplify reports of political discord in Western and former Soviet states.

US President Joe Biden warned that Russia and its partners pose an increasing threat to NATO and stressed that US security assistance to Ukraine can address the Russian threat.

The US House of Representatives filed a supplemental appropriations bill on April 17 that would provide roughly $60 billion of assistance to Ukraine, and will reportedly vote on the measure on April 20.

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Avdiivka and Donetsk City.

The Kremlin-controlled Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) is preparing a special training course for ROC clergy deployed to combat zones in Ukraine.

INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 18 April 2024

On 01 April 2024, a Grigorovich class guided missile frigate undertook weapons handling activity at the Black Sea Fleet (BSF) facility, Novorossiysk port. Modern Russian warships such as the Grigorovich class frigate have vertical launch systems for firing cruise missiles at sea and land targets. Such missiles have historically been reloaded in Sevastopol, Crimea.

The BSF has largely withdrawn its ships and submarines from Sevastopol further eastwards to Novorossiysk. Since the removal of the BSF commander in March 2024, the fleet has been the least active since the war began.

Whilst the BSF almost certainly remains alongside Novorossiysk as its best method of avoiding Ukrainian sea-borne attack, its maintenance, logistics and weapons-handling infrastructure at Novorossiysk has highly likely been improved to support the new basing arrangements indefinitely.

Strike on Dzhankoi airfield: Ukraine's intelligence reports hitting 4 Russian S-400 systems
VALENTYNA ROMANENKO — Thursday, 18 April 2024, 12:59

Four S-400 surface-to-air missile systems and a number of other targets were hit as a result of the Ukrainian Defense Forces' strike on a military airfield in Dzhankoi, temporarily occupied Crimea.

Source: Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU)

Quote: "Information from DIU: On 17 April 2024, as a result of a successful operation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the military airfield in the city of Dzhankoi in temporarily occupied Crimea, the following were destroyed or critically damaged:

Four S-400 surface-to-air missile systems;

Three radar stations;

An air defence assets command post;

Fundament-M air defence command and control system."

Details: It is noted that the number of Russian aircraft facilities hit or destroyed and the casualty count among the personnel of the Russian occupying army is still being established.

Background:
On the night of Wednesday 16-17 April, explosions were heard near the military airfield in Dzhankoi in temporarily occupied Crimea.
Atesh (the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar underground resistance movement in temporarily occupied Crimea) announced that a series of strikes carried out on the Dzhankoi airfield on the night of 16-17 April were successful.

Ukraine Can’t Win If It Can’t Shoot Back

The Biden administration should let Ukraine target Russia’s war industry.

What the Biden administration seems to misunderstand is that war is dangerous and ugly. There are two ways to force Putin to cease his invasion and withdraw his occupying forces. One is to force the Russians back across the border with bullets and bombs, as Ukraine has every right to do. The second, which is mutually supporting, is to destroy key elements of Putin’s war industry, both to starve Russian forces of materiel and fuel and to contribute to the Russian anti-war movement by causing the Russian people to feel the type of pain their military is inflicting on Ukraine.
