Does the retirement of the S-3 Viking give cause for concern or do we have enough long range ASW aircraft like the P-8 to cover that loss?
There are some serious over estimates of the capabilities of the former Soviet and Russian submarine force in this thread. Yeah the crews were professional but the boats were mostly garbage, remember they needed a spy to tell them that their boats were so fn loud we were tracking their every movement.
It makes sense though, for MAD to work part of the game is making the opponent believe they have the ability to strike back even when in reality they do not.

100% of my submarine warfare knowledge comes from Hunt for Red October
So I know you’re not talking about me

I also know that life in the USSR must have been really shitty if the XO of a nuclear submarine wants to defect so he can move to Montana and get a fat American wife.

Today's negotiations concluded. Both sides agreed to keep humanitarian corridors open for civilian evacuation. Some progress in other areas, per Ukraine delegate.
I thought it was the Russian guy that said something about encouraging progress and the Ukranians were downplaying that and saying just the corridors were achieved?

I heard it on the radio. I could have misheard it

Someone upthread posted an article about it. Good news on the humanitarian corridors I'd say, and at least one side thinks there has been progress otherwise.

This won’t be popular but I think Russia has gone out of its way to minimize civilian casualties as much as they are capable of.

I'd say that they've gone out of their way to make it appear that they've gone out of their way to minimize civilian casualties as much as possible.

If you're an American or European with a slight amount of game or the balls to talk to a beautiful woman, you could get way hotter women than this in Ukraine.
