Thanks Chrome. I just call balls & strikes like I see ‘em. And I try to be as objective as possible when it comes to discussing this war.
As a follow up on your post about Russia's "will to fight" observations.. It would be interesting to explore the influence of Russia's new communist identity and the pros and cons of that on Russia's national will during WWII ..
Also, I would argue Russia benefited hugely from the support provided by the US enabling them to survive and endure the initial onslaught/success of the Nazis...
But these discussions would best be served in another thread...

I immediately thought about this little back and forth between you and Ruff. I have been waiting for him to reappear and assert that Utkin was the cabin steward.

Priggy was popular enough to drive straight towards Moscow without any resistance.
Have to imagine many, many people are upset by this. Russian media is reporting the plane was shot down by Russian air defense, so it's not like it's a secret.

I was wondering how loyal Prigozhin's troops were. Putin may have just made thousands of skilled assassins out for revenge.

Sounds like Ukraine paid a very high price for Robotyne, can they realistically do that a few more times? Nah

Why is it a shortcoming? Nothing wrong with disagreeing on stuff. People are entitled to their own (wrong jk) opinions.

have lost upwards of 100k KIA/WIA/MIA
That’s a high estimate, it’s probably closer to 60k.
I know that you a Putin dick lover but even you know that your claim of 60,000 dead is bullshite. Wagner admits to losing 20,000+ just in Bakhmut. Those numbers are not from the entire Battle of Hakhmut either. Those numbers are just January 2023 - May 2023.

The BBC could only find 14k obituaries when they did their survey in February.
That is because Russia is not releasing the names of its dead or allowing obituaries from unconfirmed casualties to be published. Most Russian bodies are cremated in at special crematoriums that Russia is running in Luhansk city, Donetsk city, and Mariupol.

You mean got their asses kicked by Ukraine in their invasion of the Kiev and Kharkiv oblasts?

The total number of Ukrainian and Russian troops killed or wounded since the war in Ukraine began 18 months ago is nearing 500,000, U.S. officials said, a staggering toll as Russia assaults its next-door neighbor and tries to seize more territory.
The officials cautioned that casualty figures remained difficult to estimate because Moscow is believed to routinely undercount its war dead and injured, and Kyiv does not disclose official figures. But they said the slaughter intensified this year in eastern Ukraine and has continued at a steady clip as a nearly three-month-old counteroffensive drags on.
Russia’s military casualties, the officials said, are approaching 300,000. The number includes as many as 120,000 deaths and 170,000 to 180,000 injured troops. The Russian numbers dwarf the Ukrainian figures, which the officials put at close to 70,000 killed and 100,000 to 120,000 wounded.
The US military is just estimating and those number are probably not spot on but the US military does have observers and advisors on the ground and drones and satellites watching the entire war. Their numbers are a hell of lot closer to the actual numbers that you cited. Again I realize that you are Putin dick sucker and the only things that you accept as facts are the facts that Putin jizzes into your mouth. However, deep down you know that what you are saying is bullshite.

Does anyone know what happens to Wagner now?
They'll cease to exist after a power struggle.
The Russian MOD will have to pay the Wagner troops a hell of a lot more than it pays its own troops when it bothers to pay them at all. I do not see that happening. Either the mercenaries rebel against Putin and Russia or they sell their services to the highest bidder in Africa.
Personally I expect them to bide their time and use their social media presence in Belarus to stir unrest among the people. When the Belarusian people rise up then the Wagner troops in Belarus move against Lukashenko allies in the Belarusian military. The Belarusian people do not like Lukashenko and even voted him out of power in their last election. If Lukashenko's allies in the military suddenly disappear or stop supporting him then he will lose power ASAP. Wagner then assumes control of the Belarusian military and moves against Russia. I hope that I am wrong because there are nukes in Belarus now and pissed off neo-Nazi mercenaries in control of nukes is a scary prospect.

This is some next level wishcasting.

Even Tom Clancy could not predict Wagner revolting against Russia or Wagner's leadership to be stupid enough to believe that they could trust Putin's guarantee of their safety. Especially being stupid enough to have the top leadership fly back to Moscow in the SAME PLANE. Anything is possible at this point.

A flight attendant who was on board Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin’s private jet when it crashed Wednesday had phoned relatives to say the flight was delayed due to some “strange” repairs, according to a report. Kristina Raspopova was among the 10 people killed when the aircraft plummeted to the ground in Russia’s Tver region. A family member of the 39-year-old told the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel that Raspopova said the Embraer jet had been taken away for some kind of “incomprehensible” servicing or repairs ahead of the flight. Another source quoted by the channel, however, insisted the jet was constantly under supervision, making it impossible for anyone to have “planted” anything on it. Russian investigators are now focusing on the theory that the jet was brought down by bombs on board, according to multiple reports.

I have no doubts that Russia will try to spin it as an on board explosion. However, that does not explain why there is damage on the wreckage that is similar to the damage seen on Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 which was also shot down by Russian air defense systems. It also will be hard for Russia to explain to the Wagner troops who put the bomb on the plane. Putin messed up by taking out the Wagner leadership in such a spectacular fashion. He would have been smarter to send some special ops ppl to Africa and taken them out with snipers or IEDs. That way they could have blamed the terrorist groups that Wagner is fighting against in Africa and at least had plausible deniability.
