US intel is clearly extremely deep into Russian mil and the Kremlin. They’ve had this one nailed for months.
I'm wondering just what they know about that big convoy.

It seems like either their OpSec got good, or the Ukrainians aren't trying to do much about it.

I wonder if they have some reason to think it's not the pending apocalypse it looks like to an amateur like me.

It seems everybody involved is taking 'information warfare' to heart, both defensively and offensively.

Its probably because Ukraine doesn’t have any Air Force left and Russia has complete control of the skies.

Yeah, right. I remember the crap the DoD used to show us in the Air Force... just ridiculously wrong. I remember Rumsfeld thinking there was a language called Afghani. I've rubbed elbows with a lot of those DoD types and they're absolutely clueless.

That happened quick. They just began the assault of Kherson this morning. It’s clear that the Russian army in south has their shite together. Now we wait to see if this vaunted Ukrainian resistance materializes.

That's the First Guards Tank Army, their best troops aside from the airborne forces. For some reason they used them in the south instead of toward Kyiv.

I hate to be one to tell you guys, I told you so but, this is what I expected. Te real analysis of Russian military is exactly this. They can’t fight a protracted war, they would run out of everything

For the 1st time in a modern conflict, the regular forces of Russia are communicating without digital mode, making them fully audible by everyone.

A story documented by Nicholas Laidlaw (LINK might explain that the cause would be bad logisitic preparation.

The guy who you tell your stories to:

My name is Nick Laidlaw. I served 8 years as a Marine Rifleman and reached the rank of Sergeant. (best job I ever had) My passion has always been the extremes of the human experience in warfare. To share the stories of the men, women, and civilians who have gone willingly or unwillingly into harms way.

I interview men from both sides of almost every major war since 1939. Nearly 200 total conversations with men from 20+ different armies, with hopefully thousands more to come. (Supplemented by accounts I find in the many many books I read)

I won’t take your stories to use and abuse like many of the other ‘war porn’ websites. Or use them to flag wave or sway opinion. I’ll use your stories to show war for what it really is. The day to day. The exciting, mundane, terrifying and depressing. This isn’t about ‘stacking bodies rah’. It’s about the human experience as it really is. Raw. Gritty. Unbiased. The truth.

I hope many of you who were on the fence about contacting me feel more comfortable now that you see the face behind the screen and keyboard. I’d love the opportunity to hear your stories, document them, and put them on B&B and my upcoming book “What War Did To Us” for the world to both enjoy, and learn from.
Please reach out via Facebook Messenger or Instagram on either of my pages to tell your story.

Perhaps they thought the operation in the south would be more tactically difficult? Units more spread out, further away from the logistics train, lots of objectives and axes of advance? Not saying it’s the best strategy. Should probably use your best unit as main effort. Who the hell knows. Maybe Putin doesn’t really give a frick about Kyiv and is using the troops up there to tie down a bunch of Ukrainian forces while his good units run around like banshees capturing his real objectives in the south.

If they are giving up functional BMPs, T72s, and MLRS systems to blow up farmer Bawaslav and his wife they either have more money than sense, or they are way fricked.

I did say I was 99% joking. I'd eventually take the tank on my farm home but I'd be dumbfounded at first to find a fully functioning tank and certainly wouldn't just jump right in and drive off....unless I was half a fifth into a bottle of vodka.

Russia gave notice to kiev residents to vacate, stating they intended to hit tv and ministry of information. a few hours later both hit with missiles. they also continued to blitz the dogshit out of kharhiv.. anything and everything.

the northern advance shite show to kiev continued at a very slow pace. they're now apparently 15 miles outside of town and planning to encircle then shut off power, water etc.

the southern advance moving fast with two cities under russian control, the others encircled.

A few analysts are starting to think the northern thing is a distraction, the southern action is the actual goal.

As long as it is a different group than the ones who were twiddling their dicks in Acghanistan and Kabul we should be in better shape. Even the good ones in Afghanistan couldn't get tater head to listen to them.

What is it that’s so important in southern Ukraine compared to the capital?

You want to hear something funny about that TV station/antenna the Russians tried to hit? All they did was damage the base of the broadcast antenna. There was a good bit of smoke, but after it cleared the damn thing was still standing and Broadcasting.

They could have taken another crack at it since, but the first go around was a failure.

That hasn't been a big secret since they launched the invasion. The South has been the biggest goal with linking the Russian separatists regions with Crimea. Once that was accomplished, it effectively surrounded Mariupol. They'll take Mariupol and then push West.
