From @DefMon3:
quote:

Ukrainian think tank "CDS" stated the RU forces around Bakhmut amount to:
28000 soldiers
130 tanks
320 IFVVs
160 barrel artillery
80 MLRS

They also state RU forces have rotated troops during the last week.

Interesting to see what kind of Russian force has been required to very slowly take Bakhmut.

The one "safe" road out of Bakhmut had three vehicles get hit a couple of days ago. Ukrainians took out the position from which the road was attacked, so it's "safe" again for the moment, but likely not for long. Russia took more towns just north of Bakhmut and continued to push west towards the center of town.

I see Ukrainian stuff saying that they are still killing Russians at a 3:1 ratio, so the defense of the city might still be justified, but it will be coming to an end soon. Of course, we've all been saying that for a month.

I saw this counteroffer on Twitter and thought its reasoning was sound.

I didn't realize Trans was a breakaway from Moldavia, I guess it was done to make an excuse for Russian troops to be there.

It happened 30 years ago. Russian troops were sent there as "peacekeepers". Putin likes to use that old Hitler strategy of going in to protect "Russian citizens" or "Ethnic Russians". Aka: Georgia and the Donbas. Problem is: these aren't really Russian citizens until the passports are handed out right before the troops go in. Transnistria is funded by Russia and the Russian passports there have been handed out like candy.

I really hope not. Everytime a staunch conservative on the PT identifies a domestic problem we could solve by throwing Ukraine money at it I don’t know what to say. My response is impetuous. Their logic is impregnable. And I’m just furious. I want their heart. I want to groom their children. Praise be to Kadyrov

I hesitate to post this, but I think it's something that we should be aware of. Somehow, some totally insane way, the newest conspiracy theory is that the war is completely fake -- it's all just a scam to get money out of American taxpayers.

Welcome to the new world of Ukraine War Truthers, folks.

Is that actually a Michael Flynn tweet/truth/whatever?

I know it lasted for all of a hot minute, but that fact this guy rose to national security advisor is pretty terrifying.

Idk what I’m asking about. Just the flattened backwards “c” things just under the numbers. I’m not military so I assume they probably don’t call them “flattened backwards c things”.

This is what you are referencing, yes?

I am not sure but I think it is a form of passive armor protection.

The idea has been floating in the background for months. The preconditioning started a long time ago. I didn't track down the source but someone pulled the pin on the grenade late last night and it exploded all over SM today. The thousands of hours of combat footage, despite being rawer and more plentiful than any other conflict in the history of man, is useless because it was not captured or "verified" by mainstream reporters, the same reporters that would not be believed if they did "verify" it. Of all the wackadoodle CT regarding the war this takes the cake or medovik* as it were.

I hear this a lot, but it’s always from people who don’t actually follow it or bother to look for the now thousands upon thousands of vids on Twitter or Reddit of combat footage. If someone took 5 minutes time they could find combat footage, near front lines interviews with Ukrainian soldiers/international volunteers fighting with the Ukrainians.

The political crowd does the same disingenuously for their own gain and to further feed the same crowd of over the top conspiracy theorists. There’s conspiracy theorists and then there’s conspiracy theorists of the last 6+ years now. Two different levels.

Never put Politards and critical thinking in the same sentence. They believe whatever the St. Petersburg troll farms want them to believe. That has been going on for years.

There were several reporters, including two who worked at Fox News, who were killed fairly early on in the conflict. After that, Ukraine started restricting press access to the most dangerous areas.

But, yeah, it's not even remotely true that the media lack war coverage. I mean, I'm not a liberal, so I don't watch MSNBC, but do people Flynn really pretend that reports like this one from Bakhmut are all just some kind of movie set or something?

But all we heard from the fringe Putin-lovers for the longest time was that there was too much coverage of the war -- why wasn't the media more focused on [insert issue]? Because [insert issue] was clearly more important to Americans than anything in Ukraine. So, why is the media ignoring [insert issue].

Now, we get insane comments that the media isn't covering the war enough? That's it's all some kind of Wag the Dog fake.

Anyway, back to the war. @NOELreports posted a few minutes ago:
quote:

Just received word that Ivanivske south of Bakhmut is being stormed by Russians. Pray, this is decisive.

Ivanivske is the suburb of Bakhmut just to the southeast of the city. Last week, Ukrainian forces pushed Wagner back there and stabilized that sector of the Bakhmut front.

But Noel is correct. If Ivanivske is taken, then all Ukrainian troops in Bakhmut will have to fight to get out quickly to avoid being trapped.
