I will have to go look for it again, but seems that recon showed the flagship had damage to its comms and radar with a breeched hull, a landing ship was sunk and another smaller vessel as well.
How is Russia going to interdict the grain ships sailing from Ukraine?

I think it's more of they are going to target the ports they are supposed to load in. Without the guarantee from Russia it isn't likely that any ships will be willing to risk docking

Yea this is a total guess on my part, but I imagine insuring the ships and cargo going in and out of Ukraine right now is tough and I wonder if absent Russia’s consent to some type of an agreement they are uninsurable entirely.
What I am confident in saying is somewhere on tigerdroppings is someone who is a legit expert in marine insurance and could educate us on that point.

That was an awfully big fireball in the video. I’d have to think that the biggest strike was reserved for the Makarov, since it’s the flagship that succeeded the Moskva.
To think that the Ukes have now hit Russia’s two most important ships in the Black Sea surely has them thinking that they’re not safe anywhere they dock.

I’m waiting to see what was actually hit before getting excited. If reports are true that the Makarov was hit and had to beach itself then that is huge. If they just hit a landing ship or patrol vessel then that’s really not a big hit to Russia. Does Ukraine build these kamikaze drone boats themselves? I’ve never seen them before this conflict.

The video definitely does show the drone boat about to hit the mid to aft section of the Makarov the question is what type of damage it inflicted.

I'm thinking either Ukraine or Turkey is capable of building them

I think the drone boats are basically a canoe with an electric motor packed with explosives and added cameras/ remote control equipment.

I think you are right about the construction. Looks to have a camera and maybe a solar panel in the back also for powering the batteries and an antenna of some sort to control the boat remotely. Crude but effective. Very creative. Ukraine has impressed me in their ingenuity.

Rudderless jet propulsion aka PWC jet pump.

Absolutely genius idea that doesn’t take any real special parts to accomplish. They can make dozens of these in short order and they have to be hard as shite to see especially at night.

It's impressive. They're probably already working on improvements for the next batch.

Moon of Alabama, a major pro Russia blog, has been down since yesterday.

Dumb question I know, but what do the US ships use to stop this kind of stuff?

Small arms, autocannons, there are videos on YouTube of laser weapon tests vs drone boats. IDK if those are operational yet. As always, it takes vigilance. Our electronic and human surveillance is doubtless better than Russia, but it's foolish to think one couldn't slip through on us. This is a game changer for everybody.

We should be getting open source satellite images any time now

...half that for Ukraine.
Those are rookie numbers... If I recall correctly, their were 23K casualties at Antietam in 24 hours....
Over 17 Million casualties in WW1.. over a 4 year period that averages over 354K casualties a month...

Hundreds or thousands of these in the Taiwan strait would make a Chinese invasion impossible.
Hundreds or thousands of these in the Persian Gulf or Sunda Strait would paralyze worldwide commerce.
You could hit a ship just as it's entering a Panama Canal lock and shut down the canal for weeks or months.
