Seems like part has buckled.
That look road has buckled with rail at the higher level. Those look like tank cars and likely a timed charge on one.

The Azov Sea is Russia’s now. Goodnight.
Maybe not after tonight other than a possible bridge blocked sea.

Wonder how fast they can repair it?

What they did is... fricking impressive. I mean like really fricking impressive.
This is gonna give Putin some heartburn.

Consider the timing, why now?
My thought is that with the change in tone of the Russian media and social media space as well as the reports of possible friction in the highest levels of the Russian government, this was timed to apply maximum pressure at the exact moment Russia doesn't need it.

It will be interesting to see if Russia calls it an accident or admits Ukraine was able to take it out.
Will they blame it on a wayward smoker?

If Ukraine did it or not, going to be interesting to see how Putin responds to this.
This is huge.

I'm reading reports that it was a train inbound from Russia. If true, either Ukraine SOF are operating deep within Russia or the sabotage was an own goal.
Posted on 10/7/22 at 11:43 pm to Burhead
It could absolutely cause Russia to escalate, the question will be how? Will Putin go nuclear over this?
Posted on 10/7/22 at 11:44 pm to Chromdome35
Single most consequential act of this war save for Russia moving the first piece of military hardware over the border.
I hope the calculus on this gambit is correct.

Check out this video from the bridge itself. It’s completely fricked. LINK

Been saying since what, May, that October is when this takes a sharp fricking turn? It’s ok, again, another one and done, mods.

That’s a lot of rail cars full of fuel that won’t make it to the Russian front lines!
Posted on 10/7/22 at 11:49 pm to LSUneaux
OTOH if it was a sabotaged train, why is the rail span still standing and the road span collapsed? Maybe the burning rail cars are secondary to the main explosion.

I never seriously thought this would escalate beyond Ukraine. Now I'm not so sure. I'm getting a Guns of August vibe from this.

What does this mean?

That bridge is done. Russian forces have to be near the brink of collapse at this point.

Subscribers are reporting.
There is an assumption that "something flew" to the bridge.
We are waiting for official confirmation!
UPD. People write to us that firefighters cannot come, there are no helicopters. It's been on for an hour and a half.
Now that's bullshite. How could a tank explode so easily? It's just like that?? Or were the ukrams really given rockets that reach the bridge?

A train didn't take down the road span. Plus at that point the road span is far below the train span. Trains can't deal with the grades cars/trucks can, even 4% is extremely high for trains.
I am very interested in how this was accomplished. Russia had been on high alert for months.
