AFU Encircle About 5,000 Invaders In Lyman - Luhansk Administration Head Haidai

As of the morning of October 1, about 5,000 soldiers from occupation units are surrounded in the city of Lyman, Donetsk Region.

Serhii Haidai, the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, announced this on a Ukrainian television channel.

"On Lyman. The occupiers asked their leadership for opportunities to get out, which they were refused. Now they have three options: either to try to break through, give up, or all die together. There are about 5,000 of them, there is no exact figure yet," said Haidai.

At the same time, the official stressed that 5,000 is a colossal group surrounded. According to him, this has not yet happened in principle.

Haidai added that now all the ways to transport ammunition there or the quiet exit of this group from Lyman have already been cut off.

I'm confused. Are you posting positive Ukraine news?

AKA: Ukraine got back what was theirs to begin with.

Didn't you say a couple weeks ago that Lyman wouldn't fall?

WarGonzo now reporting that invading AFU now terrorizing locals of Lyman who they likely ironically consider “collaborators.” Very tragic if true.

Yes I did. Unfortunately that prediction has proven incorrect for the time being. Although reinforcements of the Russian defenders arrived as I expected it was not in sufficient numbers to hold the city but only to facilitate a complete withdrawal to the east to secure the frontline. Unfortunately it appears the Ukrainian terrorists now illegally control the Lyman for the time being.

Yes it’s tragic that people are forced into situations where they have to collaborate with the enemy and then are persecuted for it after the enemy has been driven out.

It has happened in every single war ever fought. Check out what the Russians did to their own people who had been forced into helping the Germans during WW2 or what the Russians did to the German public…truly horrendous.

No, he's trying to minimize the Russian loss by claiming that most of the Russians had withdrawn

No, I haven't. No one outside of Putin's inner circle and BrianKellyRespecter recognizes the claim.

Per War Moniton twatter Zarichne taken, Lyman is mopping up.

Ukraine air dropped mines on the highway leading out of the area, Russian left all equipment and made dashes through the woods. The string tells of the progress

Looks to me like retaking Severodonetsk from the NW is viable. A biolab will be liberarted! (joking, it is a heart meds and viagra factory the Russians destroyed a few months ago.

The fact that the pro-Russia accounts in SM keep hammering that there is no possible benefit for Russia gives me pause in ruling them out.

They are just in groupthink mode.

There are very easy justifications and benefits for Russia to blow it up.

US has some, too. Just because Russia clearly has some potential motivations doesn't exclude the US (I have to type a disclaimer because of all the polar thinking rampant in this discussion)

He's either a Russian troll or the Feds trying to out people who share his groupthink.

He just hates America. When I was a kid, the blame-America-first crowd who looked to Russia for inspiration were all honest enough to call themselves Communists. These days, some of those freaks somehow pretend that they are "conservative," as if conservatism is about supporting tyranny, systematic rape, genocide, and oppression -- just be honest and call yourself a Communist!

I’m disappointed in Finland too, but they border a much more densely populated region and probably fear a greater logistical nightmare.

I mean taking in too many ethnic Russians just sets you up for a "justified" invasion by Russia in the future
