What do you do in that situation? I assume you are either going to be killed (probably by artillery) or you surrender?
I honestly have no idea what I would do.
The grunt in me says rally the boys and start doing soldiering things to increase our survivability and efficiency at helping the other poor bastard die for his country but the human in me is probably trying to figure out the way to take advantage of Zelenski's 3 guarantee surrender plan.
I have bitched about a logistics SNAFU that left us eating chicken ala king MREs for a week and not having rotor heads or fast movers within minutes of my request but I just can't fathom being in those poor fricks situation. Hopefully, their wife/GF supplied them with tampons so they can plug up the wounds and continue the fight, I guess the old guys with post-menopausal wives are really screwed.
Don't know why I came here tonight, have the feelin' that something ain't right
Convicts on the left of me, Wagner to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with Pu(tin).

I've been in somewhat similar circumstances albeit as a tanker. The only thing that saved our arse was a little help from the 13Bs. (I always seemed to dislike most of them in garrison though.

Redlegs suck until you need them. My favorites for support were always the rotary head front seaters but hated to hear them say "Winchester". Long time on station, direct fire, and another pair of eyes (and instruments) in the sky that could see things I couldn't. The added advantage is they drew all the fire and the assholes forgot about me and mine for a few.
I am surprised at how many tankers and pilots we have around here and precious few grunts, then again I shouldn't be surprised since OTers are generally far too smart to go into war with just battle rattle and idiot sticks.

The only infantry I ever dealt with firsthand was Mech guys in A2 Bradleys. They were good dudes but man, I hated being around Bradleys. I still have no idea what cycling a ghost round even means and I've heard them say it dozens of times.
Later in my time, going to certain schools, I met and became friends with a lot of light grunts. Totally different culture though...they didn't understand that we didn't give 2 craps about their high speed tabs and patches or fancy blue cord. They never understood how we could stuff 4 guys in a tight area for 12 hrs at a time without ever getting out.
ETA. I hunt elk every year with a light infantryman and he still gives me shite for not having a "Man Badge" (CIB).
And they still years later call the CAB--the Cried About it Badge.

Key Takeaways
The Kremlin is attempting to message its way out of the reality of major problems in the execution of its “partial mobilization,” but its narratives are unlikely to placate Russians who can perceive the real mistakes all around them.
The Kremlin’s planned annexation of occupied Ukraine may take place before or shortly after October 1, the start of Russia’s normal fall conscription cycle, to enable the forced conscription of Ukrainian civilians to fight against Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces continued to make advances north of Lyman and on the eastern bank of the Oskil River.
Ukrainian forces continued to target Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) as part of the southern counter-offensive interdiction campaign.
Russian forces continued conducting offensive operations around Bakhmut and west of Donetsk City.
Russian forces continued to use Iranian-made drones to strike Ukrainian forces and cities in southern Ukraine.
The Kremlin may be considering formally closing its borders or more formally restricting the movement of fighting-age men within the country to better implement partial mobilization.
Russian occupation authorities began to announce that the results of their sham annexation referenda, citing flagrantly falsified turnout numbers.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 27 September 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
President Putin is scheduled to address both houses of the Russian parliament on Friday 30 September.
There is a realistic possibility that Putin will use his address to formally announce the accession of the occupied regions of Ukraine to the Russian Federation. The referendums currently underway within these territories are scheduled to conclude on 27 September.
Russia's leaders almost certainly hope that any accession announcement will be seen as a vindication of the 'special military operation' and will consolidate patriotic support for the conflict. This aspiration will likely be undermined by the increasing domestic awareness of Russia's recent battlefield sets-backs and significant unease about the partial mobilisation announced last week.

According Pro-Russian sources Ukrainian forces successfully crossed the Siversky Donetsk River. First UA recon units in armored cars reached Torsk and Kreminna. Russian troops abandoned the forest. Only 1 supply line left to Lyman. #Ukraine #Lyman

Hot damn. They probably don't know how to properly boresight or update their version of the Muzzle Reference Sensor to make adjustments to the boresight after firing 3-5 rounds. And if you can't effectively manuever a rank, you're a big arse target.
They're probably going to be used as fodder for a Movement to Contact.

Was just about to post about this. One leaking is one thing, both springing leaks at essentially the same time is "unusual".

The General Staff confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine entered the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in the Kharkiv region.
The settlement was first mentioned in that regard in the summary of the General Staff for Monday, September 26.
That summary reported that Russian troops shelled a number of settlements in the Slobozhansk direction.
Those mentioned included three settlements – Kupiansk suburbs – liberated from the Russian invaders on the left bank of the Oskil River: the villages of Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.
Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi is a large village where the railway station with the same name is located. It is a large railway hub that provides rail connections with Kharkiv, Valuyki, Sviatohirsk, Belgorod, Popasna, and Kupiansk-Pivdennyi stations.
Russia was previously using the station’s railway infrastructure to transfer its forces from the Belgorod region to the temporarily occupied territory of the eastern regions of Ukraine.

After the lightning success of Ukraine's offensive that captured most of Kharkiv Oblast, including Izyum and Kupiansk, Russia determined to form a new defensive line on the east side of the Oskil River.
That line has steadily been breaking.
Yesterday, we got confirmation that Ukraine had taken Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, just to the south of Kupiansk on the east side of Oskil.
This morning, there are reports that Ukrainian forces are in Borova. That means that, for Russia, there's now no strategic value to any towns along the Oskil south of Kupiansk, and any Russians there should be expected to flee east.
There may or may not be some Ukrainian mop-up work needed, but they should have firm control of the east side of the Oskil (south of Kupiansk) in the next day or so.
I have no idea where Russian troops could try to form a new defensive line.

Meanwhile Baltic Pipe from Norway through Denmark to Poland is opened. Roughly 1 Billion SCFD, sizable but not world class.
