I don't know what else to call it but its really starting to look like a rout. How far does it go becomes the question.

Just hope they don't start getting too overconfident and push too far. Though it looks like all that US/NATO training and combat experience that was invested since 2014 has started paying off.

I don't think they will overextend, they have been very smart this entire war.

Who would have thought that 6 months after RUSSIA invaded its neighbor, its neighbor would be routing Russia off the battlefield? At the start of this war, I sure didn't.

He was living in Florida, and was Lithuanian heritage. He hated Russians based on grandmother's experience, worse than Nazis by a lot. James Vasquez or something like that. Served in USMC previously. I forget the name but a Ukrainian living in Texas was the most recent. He described the drone masters as young nerds whose experience is video games.

That means those who laughed about the press on the kid who was knocking out Russian tanks to be the clueless

Evening update from Rybar

ETA: With Ukraine supposedly in the outskirts of Izium and Kapyunsk, his map doesn't appear to describe the current situation.

?????????? Battle for Kharkov: the situation on the Izyum-Kupyansky sector of the front
by the end of September 9, 2022

??Kupyanskoe direction

??Due to the transfer of reserves to the Kupyansky sector of the front, the RF Armed Forces managed to stop the advance of the main forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine a few kilometers from the city limits.

??By the end of the day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine established control over the villages of Chkalovskoye, Shevchenko, Borovskoye and controlled the Chuguev-Kupyansk highway to Grushevka, which made it possible to transfer equipment and artillery systems to the line of contact.

??The Ukrainian command is forming a strike force to storm Kupyansk in the area of ??Grushevka and Staroverovka. The RF Armed Forces carry out artillery and rocket-bomb strikes on enemy concentration areas.

??The Armed Forces of Ukraine are shelling the rear settlements in the liberated territories. The village of Bolshoi Burluk was hit especially hard.

The Ukrainian formations will block the reserves of the Russian Armed Forces in Kupyansk and try to bypass the city from the north with the main forces, advancing in the direction of Dvurechensky.

??Izyum direction

??From the south of Izyum, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are attacking from Vernopolye and Dolina.

??When trying to advance to Gorokhovatka, the mobile groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine met with a rebuff near the village of Yasinovatoe.
??The reserves of the Russian Armed Forces came to the eastern bank of the Oskol River, which prevented attempts to cross the river by mobile groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Apparently, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will reinforce the mobile units on the western bank of the Oskol with heavy equipment and will try to conduct reconnaissance in combat of the defense of Izyum from the direction of Gorokhovatka.

??Balakliya direction

??There are unverified reports that the eastern quarters of Balakleya are still being held by detachments of the Russian Armed Forces. In the near future, we should expect an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the villages of Vesele and Kunye.

In the near future, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will attempt to attack the Liman from Raygorodok. The main goal of the Ukrainian command in the area is to reach the Oskol reservoir and encircle the Russian group near Izyum.

General Winter was Russia’s enemy and Ukraine’s friend back in February.

I knew the Ukrainians would fight but if I was being honest I figured the conventional fight would have ended by now and turned into an insurgency in the east.

Also seeing now that War Gonzo has gotten out of Izyum and confirmed there was fighting on the outskirts of the city.

Sometimes The Atlantic really gets things right. Certainly this one and it was the best article on the mine flooding at Lake Peigneur (despite not having the knowledge that there had been a leak at that spot in the mine for years and two young guys who snuck off during a break to share a reefer noticed that the flow had begun to increase.)

Lets not forget there is an offensive in the south going on. Appears to be more of a slog in the south, looks to me like the big offensive fist is in the east. I wouldn't put it past the Ukrainians to have one ready in the south to deploy as soon as Russia shifts any resources east.

Very Heavy Fighting is now occurring within the City of Izyum in the Kharkiv Region after Ukrainian Artillery had been pounding the area for the last few hours, Ukrainian Armor and Infantry have reportedly entered the City and are fighting block to block to attempt to retake it.

Holy beer and tits this situation is changing fast. I wonder if this is what the reporters and readers felt like in May and June 1940?

Ukraine is now in Izyum itself and rumored to be advancing on Lyman as well. If true that is big. The Russians won’t be able to hold onto Severodonetsk if they loose Lyman. It also looks like Russia has decided to redeploy its military to the Donbas from Kherson. I expect to see some things change in Kherson over the weekend.

The number of videos and pictures of captured Russian equipment reminds me of the 1st month of the war, the last time the Ukrainians routed the Russians...excuse me, assisted Russia in the execution of their grand feint towards Kyiv.

And not just equipment. The Ukrainian defense minister is claiming to have a serious problem with numbers of POW's. The mayor of Mykolaiv was quoting the military was trying to round up 50 buses.

I've read that most of these areas are being defended by troops conscripted off the streets in the LNR/DNR regions. Ukraine is surrounding them and offering them to surrender instead of die. It appears to be working.

Nah I talked with Europe; they are good with what Ukraine is doing and have no problem continuing their support into winter.

Maybe their bureaucrats, but I’ll believe it when I see it with the general population. There’s mass protests and rioting in Europe as we speak.

See the poll from Germany I posted earlier this morning.
