Yes, "your" money is almost certainly keeping this whole thing afloat.

Maybe 10% percent of it will actually reach Ukraine. France and Germany provided 0 aid to Ukraine in July.

Why don’t the Europeans think the Russian invasion of Ukraine is worth spending any money on?

Good point.

Our support is unmatched, and an outlier. Wonder why no one else is as gung ho as we are?

Maybe their propaganda machines aren't as effective or their populations are more intelligent, and can see through it.

Are you stupid or something? We have allocated less than 50 billion USD on the war in Ukraine which is than 10% of our annual defense budget. If we’re going to add another trillion or two let alone 30 it will be because of the entitlement programs here in the USA not the war in Ukraine.

With that we can finally destroy that evil bastard Vlad

If the USA and NATO don’t stop Putin and Russia in Ukraine then he will go after Lithuania next so he can have a land connection to Kalingrad. That is not hyperbole, Putin’s spokesman have said so on many occasions. If Russia attacks Lithuania then that triggers Article 5 which means the USA will have to go to war and it will cost the USA a lot more in both treasure and American blood than stopping Russia in Ukraine.

Not unless Russia attacks a NATO country or causes a meltdown at a nuclear power plant which causes radiation to be blown into a NATO country.

I believe that is footage from a conventional artillery strike yesterday on an ammunition dump in the Donetsk area that the Russians had moved into the trees to try and hide it from Ukrainian artillery spotting drones. Obviously it didn’t work.

Because the French invented the idea of appeasement. Germany is playing both sides. The Netherlands are doing what the Dutch do best and follow Germany’s lead. Italy is broke and in a parliamentary crisis. The UK is trying to get its own house in order and find a new PM. Turkey has taken the opportunity of a distracted NATO and a Russian pull out of Syria to go after the Kurds in northern Syria. Poland and the other former Warsaw Pact nations are as gung ho as the USA and part of the allocated aid for Ukraine is actually going to those nations to help replace the Soviet equipment that they have transferred to Ukraine. For example, we finance 4 blackhawk helicopters for Lithuania through the foreign military sales program (yes Lithuania has to pay us back with interest) so Lithuania could donate it’s remaining Soviet built helicopters to Ukraine. We also financed Slovakia’s purchase of F16s (again Slovakia has to pay us back with interest) so that Slovakia can transfer its MIGs to Ukraine.

1. It’s only Western European countries that aren’t delivering on promises made or spending money. Eastern and Central Europe have gone all in.

2. It’s mainly Germany that is the hold up. Germany is doing what Germans do best try and exploit the situation to their advantage, but they got embarrassed back in the spring when most of the military equipment they provided to Ukraine was returned because it was broken (i.e. the Gepard anti- aircraft vehicles whose turrets only rotated 10 degrees in each direction because the Germans had not maintained them and they bearings were rusted through.

Meanwhile, things are perfect here in the USA, so we can afford it, right?

Its a convenient little distraction from the reality we face here at home. Funny how no one else is taking the bait.

It’s just comical that this thread somehow thinks Europe completely aligns with their war mongering world view and that they’re going to tolerate having to gladly sacrifice a shite ton of their modern day comforts for the most corrupt country in all of Europe.

It’s 3,000 kms from the forward most Russian position to Paris. Over the last 6 weeks, the Russians have advanced about (0.25 km/day or < 1000 feet per day). At that rate, it would take the Russians approximately 33 years to reach Paris. So we don’t have to be in a hurry.

Plus the Russians would have to get past Poland who will have Europe’s largest standing army, 1500 modern western tanks, and an Air Force with over 100 4.5 and 5th generation fighters in it by 2025.

So there is no hurry.

The desire to control the world dies hard. It will take a few generations to get this mentality removed from our population.

The only reason we are involved is to create wealth opportunities for a few select Americans, subsidized by the taxpayer. This is what they support.
