Long supply lines are a disadvantage fighting deep in Russia in winter. Otherwise not any advantage for Russia. Russia fighting in Ukraine in Winter with troops wearing summer uniforms, advantage Ukraine.
Idiots will continue to be idiots, especially when their international business experience is bussing tables at International House of Pancakes.

Looks like the Russians logistical problems in the south are bigger than just the bridges over the Dnieper.

I think this is the most salient point. The chances are good the Ukrainian troops will be better supplied for the weather. Combat effectiveness drops like a rock when soldiers are cold, wet, underclothed, and underfed.
The whole Russia will roll in the winter idea is just laughable.

It’s clearly what they’re waiting for. Russia has the cards to make their populace shiver to death. Russia also has their young men on the line unlike any other country outside of Ukraine. You really think you can outlast them on that? It’s clearly an intentional stalemate by Russia until winter comes. It is their most steadfast ally.
Take a lap, bro.

I think OML is trying to say that Ukraine will lose support from Europe because the Europeans won't last the winter without Russian energy. So then Ukraine will fold.
I'm not clear on what he thinks will happen in the spring.

I just love how idiots like you always say “how’s the great Kherson offensive going” doesn’t make you think you sound like a jackass. How’s it going? Do you expect them to just infantry charge headlong into a force with a 10:1 advantage in artillery, armor and aircraft? I know that’s the great Russian military doctrine to send waves of cannon fodder to be slaughtered but not everyone is stupid enough to play that game. What would you do to a country who lives and dies by its rail lines and “dumb” artillery when you have the advantage and means to hit further back and more precise targeting than the enemy does? Do you just sit and let Russia grid bomb the country to pieces with it’s 50 year old howitzers? No, you use the strength of your army which is precise HIMARS strikes on ammunition dumps, logistics and command/control sites behind the lines with the help of western intelligence until you’ve choked off their artillery ammunition supply and routes of ingress and egress. Hard to deny that strategy isn’t working right now.

That is certainly part of his point but he keeps mentioning "General Winter" which is inferring Rasputina will have a larger impact on Ukrainian forces than Russian forces in combat. This is very unlikely. The lack of mobility in the AO when winter hits impacts the invader more than the invaded. While it also negatively impacts any offensive by Ukraine it magnifies their advantage in artillery range and accuracy.
Even on the Euro energy side if this would have kicked off in the fall instead of the end of winter Europe would have had less time to prepare. Will it be painful, yes, will it be catastrophic no. Then again OML has a different definition of catastrophic than I do.

I don't like these videos and generally avoid posting them while I see dozens a day this struck me about the effectiveness of these little drone bomblets. Even as a grunt on terra firma golden BBs were out there but there is something highly disconcerting about the coming drone wars.

Here’s my point: the Ukrainians have a hell of a motive to fight this. Europeans writ large do not. They will fold once winter hits much to the frustration of the Ukrainians.
The Ukrainians would likely manage the winter. Emigration out of Ukraine has reduced their demand for gas, and state owned Naftogaz has been mandated to store 19bcm for the winter season.
Some European countries are in a more precarious spot. Kyiv has intimated that European governments (namely Germany, Italy, and France) have politically calibrated their military aid to provide Ukraine with sufficient weaponry to prevent Russia from winning, but not enough to defeat them. They've hedged...
I don't claim to have any piercing insights as to how the winter plays out, but there's the recent grain history as a guide. Moscow didn't make that deal out of altruism or concern for global food shortages, but instead because of their greed for profits and/or need for currency. Russia had their own grain and fertilizer that they needed to export. I wouldn't discount the probability that Russia wants the gas income just as badly as the Europeans want the gas.

UPDATE ON UKRAINE 15 August 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
On 11 August 2022, Russian media reported that Denis Pushilin, head of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), had said that the date of a referendum on the DPR joining Russia will be announced after the DPR's 'complete liberation'.
Previously, in June 2022, investigative journalists published evidence of a DPR planning strategy for running such a referendum and for ensuring that at least 70 per cent of votes were in favour of joining Russia. It is likely that Russia is in the advanced planning stages to hold a referendum, though it is unclear if the final decision to go ahead with a vote has yet been taken.
The Kremlin will likely see the military's failure to occupy the entirety of Donetsk Oblast thus far as a setback for its maximalist objectives in Ukraine.

Germany is at 75% of storage filled, and expects 95% by Nov 1.
A full 1/3 of Russia's economy is exports to Europe. It is impossible to just shift that to other regions

Despite concern over what is happening in Ukraine, there is little support among the American public for military intervention. A poll conducted over the past weekend found that only 26% believe the United States should play a major role in the situation between Russia and Ukraine. About 51% believe the country should play a minor role, and 20% say the United States should not be involved at all.
"It's very clear that the American voter is tired of expending blood and treasure," Berman said.
This was toward the beginning. The longer it drags on, the more it costs, the less support it will have.
It doesn't work.

Biden’s massive spending legislation, Biden’s anti oil rhetoric and policies, and not the war is causing our economic issues here in the US.

I spent a lot of time in Syria, 2 years actually. I've seen first hand what Russians are all about and the inhumanity they are capable of. I heard the term "sub human" used when I got there and its accurate. So watching them get their arse handed to them by a peer equal and that peer equal is using US weapons....all gravy for me.
But I will say this the Russians are very effective against unarmed women and children.
