Last time you saw or used cursive handwriting?

Other than your signature
Found some old family paperwork the other day and it was 17 pages of cursive writing and I felt like I was looking at hieroglyphics
I grew up writing in cursive but damn I forgot sometimes the way people did it gave you a headache trying to figure out the words they were scratching out.
Like trying to read an ECG.

Yesterday to write a letter

High school, 1997. I printed in college, and in Eng classes went to all caps. Pointless to learn it? But now I wonder if it’s not learned, how would we read old documents?
Now that I think about it, aren’t most signatures in cursive (mine included)?

Glad I spent 7 years in school perfecting cursive to NEVER use is again.

All the time. My handwriting is a print/cursive hybrid and it's been that way since the 90's. I still cant make a cursive capital Q or Z to save my life.

I went to catholic school from K-12 and especially up until 8th grade they made toy write damn near perfect telling you that you HAD to write like that in high school and college. They acted like college professors were going to grade your notes on penmanship. In 8th grade they said the same thing as far as how you set up your notes.

There are archival places like the Smithsonian that are looking for people who can read cursive and transcribe old documents.

Computers and arthritis has ruined my handwriting skills, what little I had to being with.

Everyday, when I use a pen to write
Posted on 6/18/25 at 6:39 am to CAD703X
I always write some type of note everyday and it is in cursive
I have come up with my own Q and for Z, I just print it if capital.

I use it every single day. Who doesn't?

When did they stop teaching it?
Posted on 6/18/25 at 6:57 am to CAD703X
It's faster, so when I write something I use cursive.
Posted on 6/18/25 at 6:57 am to CAD703X

Learning cursive isn't rocket science. It's easy. We don't need decades of study to learn what a cursive "s" looks like and be able to read or write. LoL.
