Last night was the quietest I’ve heard the city in a long time.

Maybe since Katrina. I’ve been getting home from the hospital around 9 every night and it takes me a few hours to unwind enough to sleep. I’ve been just sitting on the back patio having a few drinks to help relieve the stress of the day and last night the quietness stood out. No a/c’s running. No road noise. No ship noise from the river. Just silence. It was the first moment of wtf is going on for me.
We’re living through history and I hope people take this time to reset. Enjoy your family. Go out and check on your neighbors.

Noticed it last night too. Some nights the noise from the interstate is obnoxiously loud. Last night was eerily quiet.
I heard someone lock their car and they were probably a few houses down, but the noise stood out in the silence.

You don't realize how much background noise there is around you until it is gone. I experienced something like this years back when we had those three or four consecutive nights of a hard freeze with it barely getting above freezing during the day right after it had rained. No one was out on the road and it was like complete silence outside after dark. Not to mention the skies were crystal clear and full of stars.

I wonder if they will start advising to turn off our AC. Can Covid survive in warmer temps when it's contacted a surface?

What’s hard to understand about that? It wasn’t warm enough for a/c units to be running constantly.

I just went for a walk and it’s very eerily quiet. No cars on the road, no garbage truck, didn’t see another soul walking their dog, very weird indeed.

That’s my neighborhood 365 days a year. (quiet, etc.)

Take the car radio for example. About a year ago, i states driving with radio off. Driving is more enjoyable. And you are more focused also.

When there's not much traffic on I-20, I can hear the trains that run through downtown Ruston. Seemed louder than normal at 4:30 am today. I was glad to hear it, and thankful they're still running.
